What the best fantasy game you've ever played and why? Can be pc, board games, etc. I'm not talking about those you've played once, liked it then put it back on the shelf to collect dust. It's the one that you really enjoyed and went back for more helpings.

I personally like the Zelda series of games, but the best game that I have played so far would have to be Avatar 8 (I know more came out after that but I didn't have the funds to spend. :( So I don't know if the later ones are better). I thought it was original and the gaming was non-linear, didn't follow a storyline as much as BG and NWN. Could basically go wherever you liked and do anything in the game, although that mage that lays down the law gets annoying sometimes.

“Darkness beyond twilight, crimson beyond blood that flows! Buried in the flow of time. In thy great name. I pledge myself to darkness. All the fools who stand in our way shall be destroyed…by the power you and I possess! DRAGON SLAVE!!!”

The one fantasy game I play again and again anf agian is the PC game Heroes of might and magic III.

I just realy enjoy building those cities and have heroes advancing in levels. and the whole concept in leading the battle with magic and creatures, i just love it.
the game have a lot of magical items, spells, different creatures and different types of cities and heroes. and all the different nations have their own look and creatures.

I really think this type of scroll belongs in the Forgotten Realms Computer Software section.

And my answer would be Planescape: Torment, but I'm sure most of you already knew that anyway...

Call me old-fashioned but nothing even comes close to a good old, weekend long session of face-to-face 2nd edition Dungeons and Dragons (preferably in the Forgotten Realms).

Good company
Good entertainment
Good beer.

What more can anyone ask for.

I dont know. It a deadly toss up between Chrono Trigger ( not cross cross is cool but cross also was not a game on the SNES what had like 47 diffrent endings) and Final Fantasy 3 ( 6 in some other countries). Simply because it won awards for best theme, Best villan, best back up charactor - Interceptor "shadows" dog, best music midi's (for that time) amoung some other things. The magic system still happens to be my favorite. Oh, and BOOM, it has the best glitches in the game. Chrono trigger also happens to have some nifty gliches ... they are harder to find then on other games, but they are worth it. anyway, glad to know your ok Lina. I got worried. And Will I guess lost his connection for a while . So you better come on more and keep me happy.

PS: PC RP game??? Fallout and Fallout two. Come on whats better then a game where you get to rp a party of people with cool powers and such (like D&D lol) in the future after a big nuke. Fall out.... YEah Fall out two had an interesting thing to ... you could have your party members shack up hook up etc. And .... No I never did this but a buddy did a lot to make money... he pimped his main char's spouse out. Meh anyway what two games could be more then then those? Wll save for Theif Gold and Theif, Time of the Machines.

"Madness you say! Do you fear me? Are you afraid of what I might do, of what I might say? What a fascinating reaction. Don't you find it somewhat encumbering?"

Piddles assumes a deep and resonant voice. "Space...the Final Frontier. These are the voyages of the starship...Garou. It's mission: to slay Wyrm creatures where they live and breed. To accumulate more Garou than the world's entire population. To produce metis like no one has before." - Piddles

Well I am a fan of the Baldur's Gate games. But I'll have to agree with the others when about a good ole' game of DnD. Nothing can quite stand up to that. Well as for a non role playing type game I enjoy the Castlevania series. I've played all of them except for the latest ps2 one.

Non role playing game? Whats that? And no dident mean that, I'm just messing with your brain . And for non role playing game my favorite must be Worms. I just love those little buggers , even tought it is not a fantsy game.

I agree with Lina - The Legends of Zelda Are the best games EVER made - they are the 1st games you could ever SAVE and LOAD in - they have hours and hours of heartbreaking gameplay, they have the coolest Characters (Zelda, Ganon and Link) I LOVE the Zelda Games, and I've played through almost all of them. (Excluding the NESversions)

If I'd wanted your opinion, I'd have told you what it was.

Do you not know to respect your elders!? Baldur's Gate I is the master of D&D games on PC.

Nevertheless The Legends of Zelda is the best of the best of the best. The SNES was the first RPG I ever played, and the one I played the longest, I dare say. It aws one of the first, and it will, damn me, remain one of the best as well.

I apologise for the lengthy delay Ezindir, but that fault is not of my own creation...The suppliers I had contacted have yet to message me back on what they can do to help. I'll be contacting them again shortly to place some new orders for gaming materials, so I'll re-pose the question then...

Actually I can also agree with you on this as well...especially when talking about non-CRPGs. There are only two things I would change...

- Good bear, would become Good wine

- And the weekend-long 2e D&D gaming session setting that I would play in would be Dragonlance, preferably running some of the old 'Chronicles' modules...

Hmmmmm...

The entire Zelda series, Chrono Trigger, FF3(6 in some countries), Secret of Mana, and on the PC hmmm Fallout 1 and 2, Baldur's Gate 1, but not 2 and ToB, they just plain stunk, ruined a good idea

Xenogears hands down, awesome story line, awesome main character

Secondly though, I'd have to say AD&D, but not the pen and paper, the Arcade game, it was fun, but nowhere near as cool as the real thing

Now, you all! This is hardly the sort of subject Alaundo normally tollerates in these halls!

However, I've always been partial to the original Civilization and my layman's hack of Civilization: Call to Power. I know those aren't fantasy games, but it's still what I come up with.

Do you mean the Sid Meyer's Civilization from SNES? I didn't like the Civilization from SNES. It was bad, and the graphics were even more so. Civ 3 is better, though I didn't like that either.
