Okay, so I'm American starting a thread about independence on the 4th of July, but bear with me.
If it hasn't already been done...
What are some Independence Days in your games? Or in your fevered imaginations?
If you have published Realmslore to back it up, cool, definitely post that (with sources please!). But I'm also looking for new ideas.
Examples:
The day Arabel was freed from Gondegal... I suspect there's at least a semi-official date already on the calendar, with all the lore that's been generated on Cormyr.
The day Tchazzar's revolution broke Chessenta away from Unther. I'm thinking summer since Tchazzar would probably be most active during the hottest times of the year... pick a day?
The day Tyche was declared to have split into Tymora and Beshaba. I think each faith would regard this as a liberation from the other.
Pick a date if you want to, or leave it open if you're unsure.

Considering Zhents were attacking Shadowdale every summer at one point, I imagine they have a day set aside for remembering the fallen. |

I wonder if Cormyr might not do something like this, in celebration of Azoun IV's defeat of Nalavarauthatoryl? |

Taking it in a slightly different direction... How about Sembians fighting for independence from Shade? |

Wooly, I like the idea of the Sembians (or any other subjects of Shade, maybe even in their own city) having a secretive movement, like the beginnings of the American revolution... local politicians and shopkeepers who are loyal citizens/thralls by day and publish subversive broadsheets by night. I think they totally should (quietly, until they win their independence) celebrate the day they solemnized their commitment to fight off tyranny. Is that where you were going with it?
I like the other ideas too. There's got to be a ton of possibilities. I'm just not up on novels and DDI, so I'm not thinking of many. |

Pretty much, but I was also thinking it'd be interesting to actually run that in a campaign. |
