Just dropping by to observe that the cover for Shadowbane: Eye of Justice has appeared in the ether:

http://www.wizards.com/dnd/Product.aspx?x=dnd/products/frnovel/49806000

Not sure if this is the final cover, but it fits the preliminary art I've seen.

And who is that leather-bound beauty with the deadly steel on the cover, I wonder? (And no, I don't mean Kalen.)

Cheers

I get such a kick out of seeing your name on the cover of a Realms novel, Erik.

And the leather-bound beauty ain't bad either.

As the cover makes clear, Kalen bites off a little more than he can chew in this novel.

It seems to be ebook only at the moment, but acquiring a paper copy may be possible eventually. We'll see.

Interesting that no one's speculating about the identity of the woman on the cover. Is that because no one has any ideas, or because it's incredibly obvious and everyone just went "ZOMG YAY"?

A little of both for me, actually. I didn't take much notice at first, but then I made a screen-capture of the cover and resized it to much larger proportions.

Now it's a case of being more obvious.

I just have to say that I love the concept of a killer turned Paladin...one of the better characters I've liked in a long time out of the Forgotten Realms!

I did have one question though: can you explain the Eye of Justice a bit more?

I mean, the fight between Tyr and Orcus...how in the hells did Tyr lose!?

@Dalor, check out this DDI article I published on the subject WAY BACK in 2009: http://www.wizards.com/DnD/Article.aspx?x=dnd/duad/20091019

As for you spoiler question, that isn't my story to tell. At least not yet. The point is that it happened--or at least the people of the Realms believe it did.

I really liked Downshadow and I hope I can get Shadowbane soon. Contacted WotC about the availability of eBooks in my country and I'm waiting on a response.

Hopefully I'll be able to get Eye of Justice when its released too.

I'm curious, though. By suggesting that you'd have made her ears bigger... I'm assuming you mean more pronounced, to better distinguish her elven heritage?

Yep. In these latter years, Ilira is more "elven" in temperament than she uses to be. You'll see what I mean.

I find this particularly interesting... because we don't often see how time has affected a particular character's racial temperament in their various visual portrayals on book covers and such.

I really hope so.

As much as I dislike heaping commentary and criticism Wizards' way, I also don't like the thought of missing out on any new and quality Realmslore for no other reason than because I'm living in another country.

As I understand it, it's a legal matter that they are indeed working on. Something to do with the unfolding ebook market and such things.

Can you download any FR ebooks down there in Oz?

No.

I've tried all the new release e-books and all of those previously printed books which have since been released for Kindle via Amazon. None of them are currently available for purchase with an Australian account.

Don't give up hope of having a paper copy eventually. If the Shadowbane series sells really well, we might very well be looking at an Omnibus. So in the meantime, if this is a series of books you really want to see, post reviews, tell your friends, post to WotC, etc.

I'm a big proponent of word-of-mouth promotion.

Downshadow is indeed the first in the series. Though chronologically speaking, "The Last Legend of Gedrin Shadowbane" happens first. Link: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/GedrinShadowbane.pdf
