Aye Sage, ye have the right of it. Eberron as can be applied to the Realms. Start with the wee ones of intelligence and ingenuity, always a good place to start. But under the appropriate forums of course.
I'll be off for a bit have to fill the inkwells and check on supplies. Oh and sleep, have to fit that somewhere too.

I wonder how many Eberron Campaign Setting books will be sold. That is, including my copy. |

No way WOTC will release such information.
Let us know what you think once your D&D campaign has been saved with the purchase of Eberron. |

You could get at such information-if you're willing to acquire stock in Hasbro... |

Pass. I'd get a few shares and start barking orders at the authors/designers on here. |

...And mine as well .
One curious thing I have noticed is that, even before it's release here in Australia, WotC AUS has announced that they are placing a significant discount on the original price of the new tome...

I'm expecting a good bit of crunch with only a little bit of fluff from the first book. This is probably why I will also pick a copy up. After that, however, I'll have to see. I don't expect to start an Eberron campaign, I'll just borrow what I like. Does anyone have a copy yet? |

Interactive Map. Nice. Why do I suddenly feel like the red-haired step child of the WOTC family? |

Yes - I find this interactive map is actually pretty fascinating. Why do they never do cool stuff like this for FR? |

I too would like to see something like that for FR. Of course, that world won't save D&D, so I apologize for stepping out of line. |

Sirius, can I ask you why you're so against Eberron? I'm simply curious, since most of the 'Eberron-haters' I ask can't seem to put together a constructive argument.

Additionally, there is an ENWorld thread that details at least one person spotting Eberron within the United States. FYI for those scribes who are planning to look at and/or purchase the item. |

Meh. I seriously doubt I will ever play a game in ebberron. I also find it almost a complete impossibility of me ever DMing a game there.
This has little to do with it beeing a bad setting, on the contrary it looks like it would be a ton of fun to play. But if I ever leave the realms, I just have too much on "to do" campaign list. Iwant to run a Spider Moon spelljammer game, a "what if all the badguys won FR game, a d20 deadlands game, and at least half a dozen others I slated back when d20 first came out and I thought it would take me five months tops to get bored with the realms.
However, my game has much to gain from eberron. I have been knicking stuff left and right from the articles in Dragon.
Shifter race? Malarite cultists, now.
Working class mage, construction magic stuff? Yoink. Halruaan, now.
Nasty-mean war-forged-golem- giant-monster-thingy. Look, a bird! Hello , Gondish iron colossus.
Seriously, this could add a a lot of great things to the game. I am quite interested in a lot of nifty stuff to steal for my game.
And besides: IF people hate the realms, they despise Eberron. This can only take the heat off us. I mean, after we start seeing "Data" clone war forged, people are gonna be begging for their chaotic good dark elves back. |

I'll likely pick up the campaign book and look for nifty ideas, but at the moment, I've no intention of playing any campaigns there. What I've seen thus far is interesting, but it doesn't grab me the way the Realms does. |

I will not purchase it, but after all the hype I will find other means to get a look through the tome.
I showed the map gallery to one of my players, her response, "So where are the cho chos located?" |

What about neutral good ones? Don't leave Liriel (and me!) out!
Hmm... just working out my 'buying batches' (when I purchase a batch of D&D stuff from amazon, so I can have free delivery) - my next one is Serpent Kingdoms, Silver Marches, and Ghostwalk, then its Defenders of the Faith, Monster Manual III, and Eberron CS. I've got every other 'core' book and D&D supplement, so that is how far down on my list Eberron is. In fact I might push it back to batch 3, if I'm intrigued by either Libris Mortis or the Diablo D&D book enough.
And yet, I plan to buy it! |

Ahh, but to the general unwashed masses with enough pettiness to be spiteful, and themanual dexterity to grasp a polyhedron, Liriel is nonexistant. Like any fractios group they pick widely known(and thus easier attacked) targets. I mean, some jack-a-napes who wants to post some attack at a character or setting chooses the widest known target, that way when the hooting, back slapping and feces hurling begins the most cronies can join in.
And expecting them to be sophisticated enough to know about your character, well, that would generally imply they know enough about the real Realms to not be so blissfullyuninformed/ignorant as they are. I mean, if they actually knew that much about the setting all of the thinly painted veneer of intelligence on their jabs, jibes, and slander would wear off, because they would know how wrong they are. |

For those without a reliable gaming vendor near them and who are eager to save their D&D game, RPG Shop is now listing Eberron as available for purchase and shipment. |

As I was out wandering today, I stopped by my friendly local game store. The proprietor had the new Eberron book on the counter, and I commented that I want it, but that I'm not about to spend $40 on it. Not much he could say to that... |

Yeah, at that price there better be a $20 bill hidden in the center of the tome for me to find. |

Eberron Campaign Setting Art Gallery.
Mixed reaction there. I don't care for the comic book style at all, but it's nice to see artwork by Tedin and Avon in D&D products. |

Well, I didn't look at all of the pics, I just checked some at random. A lot of them looked like something out of a comic book. Good stuff for a comic book, but not what I like to see in an RPG book. Some of the other stuff didn't look bad, but wasn't particularly impressive...
I've just not cared about the artwork in a long time, because there's not been a lot that I thought was worth paying attention to. Of course, I am likely a bit prejudiced -- I came aboard when the greats were doing most of TSR's artwork. I fondly recall the beautiful stuff by Larry Elmore, the slighty gritty but still good stuff of Jeff Easley, and the sometimes too-revealing stuff of Clyde Caldwell (and what's with the rounded red gemstone, anyway?). Since then, no one has really compared, in my opinion. |
