This thread will follow a similar idea from the Edition Wars.... The Movie! Who playes You? thread.
If the "Powers That Be" decided to make a Forgotten Realms movie: who would you want to play some of the integral Realms characters and why?

Picturing Merryle Streep starring in a Forgotten Realms movie....I haven't laughed that hard in a long time Dennis. Thanks! |

Ed himself should make a cameo as Vangerdahast. Would it be cliche to want Ian McKellen as Elminster? Julia roberts with silver hair as Storm?
Jack Black as Volo?

Ian is more fitting to be one of the bad guys, like Szass Tam or Sammaster in their pre-undead form.
Julia is too skinny for Storm. |

Jack Black as Volo?
Ed as Halastar Blackcloak.
Jack Black as Volo = awesome suggestion. That or a younger Dom Deluise.
Nicole Kidman as Qilue...I think I might have made that suggestion in another scroll a few months previous. Just seems appropriate. |

I also second Jack Black as Volo suggestion , specially if you add him a little of the music school behaviour.... |

I'd always envisioned Volo as more sort of like David Spade, personally. |

Farmer's and barmen's wives should keep hidden if that was the case. I'd also choose Liam Neeson as Khelben, his Ra's al Gul looks were pretty similar to the image I have of The Blackstaff... |

I Googled Emilia Clarke too. I found her with white hair, but couldn't find a pic of her with ebony skin. I picture Liriel as more of a Dana Davis.
In a worlds of so many shorties, I'm sure we could find a role for Marty Klebba, although I don't think he'd make a good Regis. |

Come to think of it, Halle Berry looks very good with white hair. Beyonce would make a good Qilue |

Now THAT is a good suggestion.... And I like Black as Volo- though he might work for Thann as well, if he toned down slightly. I can definitely see it.... Warwick Davis, REALLY?! Little clichee much? How about Haley-Joel Osmondt(sp?)? They could squish him down like they did for the hobbits in LotR.
And while we're discussing volo, I'll throw out another name- Wallace Shawn? (He'd be good for Mirt, too....)

I think Robert Downey Jr. would be perfect to play the role of one of the Harpells. I know he can play serious roles, as evidenced in Fur. But it's always refreshing to see him don the role of someone with a sense of humor. |

Mirt? I see Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid, "Harry Potter") or John Rhys-Davies (Gimli, "LotR") as best fits... but if someone with a North American accent is preferred, John Goodman could possibly work. |
Playing in the Realms since the Old Grey Box (1987)... and *still* having fun with material published before 2008, despite the NDA'd lore.
If it's comparable in power with non-magical abilities, it's not magic. |

Coltrane's too huge for Mirt, I guess. Plus he seems to exude a friendly (almost stupid) aura that I couldn't picture Mirt having. |
