Ok all, I have a very odd puzzle/question/poll...? I wish to know which of the Standard Character Classes ( Fighter, Barbarian, Wizard, Sorcerer, Druid, Cleric, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Thief and Bard) is the LEAST liked, or which is the class that people look upon with the most hate/dislike/disdain...etc. For any given reason. Just wondering since every one has a favorite class I wonder which is the Neglected or hated amoung my fellow Scribes.

I think we all decided that the bard was the least played class....then I complained a lot about that and threw many a hissy fit. Then Alaundo made me clean all of the really high shelves with a sock. Which reminds me...I never finished that....
Seriously, although it's my favorite, it is the least played class in all of D&D-dom. |
My latest Realms-based short story, about a bard, a paladin of Lathander and the letter of the law, Debts Repaid. It takes place before the "shattering" and gives the bard Arion a last gasp before he plunges into the present.http://candlekeep.com/campaign/logs/log-debts.htm |

I like Paladins the least. This is becouse you must be lawful good, and I think they cant be much else than humans, so if you makes yourself a paladin you are stuck with a lawful good human no matter how much you try, amd lawful good humans is the most boring kind you can get. |

I personally always play a dwarven paladin of Moradin. I think that my least liked class is druid. |

Aasimar are Planetouched. They carry the blood of a celestial in their veins. They are the result (offspring) of a union between a mortal and a deity. Aasimar are usually of good alignment and always fight against the evils in the Faerun. They typically have fair skin, golden eyes, and often carry a birthmark that can usually resemble the shape of the deity's own holy symbol. Aasimar are gifted with insight and personal magnetism and are typically Paladins.
Aasimar are relatively active in Mulhorand due to Mulhorandi deities having a known legacy of begetting offspring with the mortals of the ancient land.

For me personally, it's monks. I have no particular reason, I just do not gravitate towards the concept. For me it's like, "So you have no weapons or armor and you can block by +10 vorpal sword of speed? Umm...sssssuuuuurrrrreeeee...". But that just me. And I'm nuts. Duh. |

I agree with Edain. I think part of my dislike for a monk also has to do with the Eastern philosophy that is included as part of the class. Makes it less usuable generally, I find. More of a powergamer's paradise then anything else in my mind. |

Human is the best race to play with, but why? The elves is the one who can live for many hundreds of years. Cyric: Can you realy be an evil paladin? I have wondered a little about that, becouse paladins often worshipp good gods but why arent there paladins of talos, Bhaal or Cyric? |

Thanks!! Cyric: Clerics can be cool if they are evil or natrual. Of course there can be cool, good clerics but there isnt many of them. Humans is maybe the best race to play with but you cant seriusly mean they are the coolest? |

I agree with Edain and Arivia, monk is far my least loved one. i mean, they can be pretty funny when well-played but i wouldn't like to play a monk, just a question of feeling perhaps. and its true that the concept doesn't go very well with chevalry and everything, but i don't know.
anyway, i like a lot better monks than psionics. |

I'll have to agree with you about the monk. I like the class and everything but I think the eastern philosphy doesn't work well in a western medieval setting. |

i agree the monk is the worst class, the idea of turning ur back on such powerfull magic weapons and armor on the face of Toril, and using only ur hands just doesnt make sense, but idk...druids also kind of annoy me. i mean, i like the forests and traveling the thickets of the lands, but druids r just 2 overboard with it |

Monks are awesome.. Im sorry but they are. Druids on the other hands are tree hugging hippies, I think my deep hatered of druids comes from the fact that theres this one guy who used to play with us and was always a druid. He would be all "DONT TOUCH ANYTHING IN THE FOREST OR ILL KILL YOU!!" Style druid. Now Im usually a ranger cause I like they're abilities (Two Weapon Fighting, etc...) and I do enjoy the forest as much as the next guy, but seriously his charectors would always (and I emphasize the ALWAYS) get bent out of shape about even a twig getting broken and his dumb girl druids who (might I add always were the same looking) would attack and get killed because they are wimpy at 1-4 or so level. So yea.. I dont happen to like druids very much |

Barbarian is probably my least played class mainly because they are sort of a cross between a fighter and a ranger, in some respects, and I usually would rather play one of those classes instead. Unfortunately, it seems most people don't know how to play a druid properly or have some sort of preconceived notion of how a druid should be and therefore, the druid class tends to get played the least in my circles.
As far as monks turning their backs on powerful magic items, since when is this the case? There are plenty of magic items in 3rd edition specifically used by monks only.

True, but in general monk-usable magic is few and far between. I suppose my view of monks may also be skewed by my non-D&D experiences. I have heard the phrase "monk leewtz" too many times to ever love a monk. |

Monks use magical items alright, but thats belts, girdles, ion stones maybe neckleses an rings not melee weapon, ranged weapon and armors such as helms and sheilds. Armors I can sacrifice but swords? Never. Druids is okey but it is a little to much of nature for me, and rangers are cooler anyway. |

Still, odds are monks wil usually have fewer magical items then others, mainly because they can get by easier without magical items...for a while. Of course last time I DMed with a monk in my group he got used as a chew toy by an angry wyvern. |

What do you mean by fighter abilities? In general monks and fighters share similar class skills and bonus feats, but monks have a whole slew of special class abilities of their own. |

I like monks for I like martial arts of fighting.Noone can stop +10 vorpal longsword of speed except very poverful mages but if monks are able to do this I like them much more. But I prefer more chaotic classes such as rangers with 1 barbarian level and sorcerers But the one I hate is clerics, preachers and whiners I don't like even their existance .I respect paladins but they are too much good and lawful, I think they are boring and choking

I think bards are so underplayed because they don't excel at anything and people don't know how to play them. They have ok fighting, ok thievery, adn ok magic. Most people would rather be a good fighter, a good thief, or a good mage than have it all and be mediocre. |
