But I rather have you make a new thread then that you cloud up this topic. Every time I open this thread, I hope for some new visions about elven afterlife, but the last posts I read are about Planescape...If I wanted to read about Planescape I'd search for a thread with that name. So please, return to the topic or open a new thread.
I don't want to spoil the fun either, or your fun for that matter, but I do disagree with you here, Ditalidas.
IMHO that thread ('elven afterlife') is a threat about Elven afterlife, which is in fact a neat discussion/talk about just that. I agree the subject in time changed a bit to afterlife in FR in general and afterlife in even broader aspects later (and, yes, some bias there), but in my eyes this is just what the board's about: sharing ideas, sharing thoughts, discussing questions, gaining knowlegde and fantasising where the manuals stop. There's more between heaven and earth than what's in the manual (hmm, would make a nice quote) and this is just the place to talk about that.
Perhaps one could consider an option to rename a thread or to have a (very brief) discription of the thread in the main lists. It mind sound mean to state it as I'm about to -but it is in fact just a another insight- ... but it seems to me that the remarks about being in or off-topic are 'clouding up' some threads. Hmm. Difficult.
It seems no pleasant idea to -whenever the discussion lives up- have to reconsider whether we're still within the borders of the topic's tittle or not and whether or not to break up the discussion here and continue it elsewhere (Without taking the previous posts with us, the post that brought the appearantly interesting bias)... tricky!
I'm not saying you're not having a point at all, the question just remains in what measure we should keep within that borders. I'm really glad I'm no moderator here so I can refrain from these matters.
(did I mention being chaotic yet?)

Planescape is not only off topic it's even off forum. |
'All that is' is also 'All that is not' for the one cannot exist without the other.

Yes, but I think we should be able to have a thread to compare Forgotten Realms to Planescape. However, I've never gotten into Planescape so I don't know anything about it. |

*sigh* Let's see if I can put this straight...
I do not mind that people discuss Planescape. I never said that. For that matter I do not mind if people compare Planescape with the Realms. I never said that either I only said that it bothered me that when I open the elven-afterlife topic, there is nothing new to the topic, but that the discussion is about Planescape. In my opinion, if you want to talk about Planescape or want to compare Planescape with the Realms, just quote the posts regarding the subject and take them to a new thread where you can discuss the subject without leading the topic of 'elven-afterlife' further from it's subject.
Is it so strange or stupid that I feel this way?

Ok, we see what you meant, and yes, I agree, we should have a separate topic for planescape. |

Ok, Drummerboy, then start a new topic about it. What's keeping you? If you're interested and don't know anything yet, ... sounds like a good start for a topic to me!
As for Ditalidas, ... well I've been unnessesary hard on you. My opinion hasn't changed however. Then again you really are right in stating topics tend to wander off-topic ever so often. And I agree that can be frustrating for the ones like you who sinserely trying to keep up with a subject. And you're right: the elven-afterlife is an intrueging subject what isn't fully explored yet (but please, if someone would react on this line, do it elsewhere )
The main reason I started this topic was that I noticed a lot of mentioning 'this is off topic' or 'you're out of border' and even 'the something-police' ...
Apearantly the question what to post in what thread is a matter which concerns a number of people. I'm willing to take part in that discussion, but not somewhere in between posts in other threads.
So, fellow-posters, please tell what you do and why, or what you don't and why (concerning in- or off-topic posting that is). Or even ... this might be hot ... why you don't like certain type of posts you find on this forum.
I hope some moderator keeps an eye (or even two) on this thread |
