Well met Solmyr,

How's the Realms-L doing these days? I used to be subscribed to the list, and remember you being on the list as well from that time. Yet when 3E came out, the list turned into a gory flame-fest that scared most of the WotC/TSR guys away. It had the same effect on me. I'm amazed Jason is still hanging in there. Has any improvement been made since then? In other words would it be interesting enough to re-subscribe?

For those not familiar with the Realms-L, it is a disccusion group on all kinds of Realms topics. Not completely unlike this board, only the Realms-L is by e-mail, not by a board. In the good old days various Realms designers were subscribed as well and would answer questions; Eric Boyd, Steven Schend, Sean K Reynolds, Rich Baker, etc. Also some of the moderators were/are in contact with Ed Greenwood, allowing an occasional glimpse from the man himself on the list.

ps. If there are others on the forum subscribed to the Realms-L, I'd like to here your opinions as well.

Till swords part.

Joining this list was one of the biggest mistakes I've made.

If anyone thinks the Tiax/Drizzt arguments are bad you ain't seen nothing.

It got to the point where I was having to start downloading my e-mails and then go and make a coffee to give it time to complete. I had to bin it in the end - my phone bill couldn't cope with it.

I can probably trace a lot of my subsequent junk e-mails back to that point too.

I'm sorry about your experience Kahonen, but wow, I'm glad this is the first and only Forgotten Realms website I've gotten into.

<deep sigh>
If all the fish, drummers and drizzts could try and post something to the topic as well other then writing 'me too's'.
<another deep sigh>

Kahonen, I agree with you fully that the situation on this board doesn't (yet) reflect the chaos on the Realms-L. At somepoint I just went skipping across the titles/subjects of the posts and plainly deleted the rest without reading. Realizing the lack of Value Add the list was providing me with made me decide to un-sunscribe.

For those forum clutterers here, you might want to try and subscribe to the Realms-L for a while. Might give all of you a different view on what you're doing here on the forum.

I haven't taken the time to check the address out, but is it still as bad as it has been, or have people 'grown up' somewhat?

Ok, I have taken a quick peak at the site and it does look interesting enough to browse through without having to clean one's inbox all the time. Thanks for the tip.

Mumadar I find nothing wrong with people supporting a certain opinion.

I fully agree with you Darwin, but what happened on the Realms-L at the time 3e came out was not expressing opinions anymore. That was being completely rude and uncalled for behavior.

Also expressing an opinion is more then saying yes or no to be a valuable contribution to a discussion. If someone wants to make a point he/she will at least have to try to illustrate the opinion with some arguments.

Stating "I think such and such is so and so" doesn't hold much value if not accompanied with a "why such and such would be so and so".

Hmmm... I hope the above is clear enough...
