Britney Spears is an Expert 3, at most, and she would revere Milil, the god of music. |

I honestly don't know enough about most celebrities to be able to assign a class to them.
Though I'd certainly not make her that high level a bard. Elvis might be close to that, but not Britney.
I was recently amazed to discover that Jimmy Stewart not only had a military career, he was a bomber pilot in WWII, rose from private to colonel in like 4 years, and earned the rank of Brigadier General (he was later given a second star by President Reagan). I've watched Jimmy Stewart portray George Bailey every year for 20 years now, and I only recently found out about his military background.
So yeah, assigning classes to celebs is not something I can really do. |

I'm in the same boat. I don't really care all that much for modern celebrities as it is, and I don't think setting them to RPG fantasy classes is entirely all that appropriate. If we were talking d20 Modern, then yes, I'd say it would probably work.

I'm inclined to agree.
I doubt my Milil would ever accept her as a devout and faithful devotee. |

You should read the "Witches" book written by Van Richten...a Green Hag would PERFECTLY fit Britney...no joke.
You see, Greenhags (before their change) are actually very talented and beautiful women...often the top of their field. They are also moody and somewhat crazy...sound familiar?
As for Famous People, I did a write up for Alexander the Great once. I think I made him like a Fighter 15/Legendary Tactician 5 or so. I don't have it any longer...so don't remember any details. |

"You guys are butchering my good mood XC" No, you are butchering my good mood by posting stupid scrolls. You're stating Britney Spears or Lady GaGa in DnD?! Seriously? What is this, I don't even... |

I think perhaps you should really consider one simple fact about Candlekeep:
it isn't some cold scholastic classroom, many of us come here to have FUN.
To me it seems your penchant for confrontation is directly in opposition to that. What is wrong with this scroll? It is fun.
Yes...fun...and a gay man started the scroll; does that make it wrong?
EDIT:
and I would go so far as to say Ed Greenwood himself would like the idea of this scroll if not the levels its OP tried to give Britney Spears! lol
After all...there are direct gates between the Forgotten Realms and our world...otherwise Ed wouldn't be able to talk to Elminster and learn all he has about the world! |

Oh gee wizz guys, sorry for not understanding whats fun in giving Lady GaGa epic levels in Bard. Don't get me wrong, I've got NOTHING against fun, but this... is just stupid. As the OP suggested I will remove myself from this thread, but seriously, I'm dissapointed when I see such things happening to Candlekeep, a forum to SHARE LORE AND DEBATE ABOUT FORGOTTEN REALMS.
"No one said you had to read this scroll. Go away if your going to be trolling and ignorant." You say I'm trolling. But I think YOU'RE trolling, posting such wierd threads. |

I'm all for fun and frivolity, but this is more reminiscent of WotC's "Off Topic Tavern" than something related to the Realms. And it is posted in General Realms Chat, without much of a connection.
Out of curiosity, does Candlekeep even have an off-topic chat room?
Doesn't have a thing to do with anyone's sexual orientation, IMO. |
"The very best possible post-fourteenth-century Realms lets down those who love the specific, detailed social, political and magical situation, with its thousands of characters, developed over forty years, and want to learn more about it; and those who'd be open to a new one with equal depth, which there just isn't time to re-produce; and those repelled, some past the point of no return, by the bad-taste-and-plausibility gap of things done to the world when its guardianship was less careful." --Faraer |

Britney and Gaga? I might be the only gay on the planet who doesn't like them.
I don't play, but given the time, I would choose....Regine Velasquez. She's not world-famous, but popular here in Asia. I'd make her Milil's Chosen. |
Every beginning has an end. |

Don't you understand sarcasm? I could say the same about your giving epic levels to them. It's the same if you say "Britney is a 20th level Bard" and "Justin Bieber is a 9000th level Bard". Both this statments are nonsensical and absurd. |

Yes, I understand it and I don't see the need for anyone to post to a scroll if they hate it so much as you do. Why do you have to be so antagonistic? This is angst-licious..... Sooo much hate XC |

Granted, this particular scroll has been sealed, but I feel that this query requires addressing:-

It's been a point that's been discussed on-and-off for the last ten or so years.
Though we have no dedicated off-topic chat room on site, we've had IRC sessions set-up outside these halls, through popular chat-based sites, which often accommodates those who require such facilities here. But interest soon wanes, and the sessions themselves quickly end up collecting virtual dust.
Really, it just amounts to the fact that we simply don't have a large and regularly active community to satisfy the need to set up a chat room. Each and every past experience ends, as I said above, with empty rooms and rare activity.
If there's enough demand, I suppose, we would think about opening up a session elsewhere again. But until then... ... |
