Not true! Even he "came back"!! There was an arc with a future Spider-Man and his daughter who became the "new" hobgoblin of that time and came back to change history and write her father out of existence by keeping Ben from getting killed in an alternate universe, and brought him back to the 616 one. Fubared the time-line of both Earths. Long story short, Ben was "resurrected".... |

Oh, I read it. ['Twas from the short-lived Sensational Spider-Man series, wasn't it?] I was just commenting on the fact that Marvel can still accomplish weird Spidey-tales in the 00's as well. |

Even normal humans have come back from the dead in the Marvel universe, but not a mutant whose death was simply disappearing out of existence. That was one of the things that turned me against the X-books. |

The death of Robin - ah yes - my brother had that comic. I never could make myself try and read it. The cover and the title spoiled the ending for me |

Errr... actually, I think Blink did make a comeback -- though, as part of the "Exiles," if I'm remembering things correctly. |

I know she was around in the Age of Apocalypse, but she wasn't one of the ones that flipped back to the main universe. If they have finally brought her back, it was years after I quit reading Marvel in disgust over various things in the X-books -- which included their then-adamant refusal to bring her back. Her death was the perfect obscure death -- in fact, she just disappeared; her death was only confirmed in the letters in the back of the comics.
That was what irked me: she was the perfect candidate to bring back (going by the "no body, no death" rule), people were asking for her to come back, but the Marvel folks instead preferred to bring back -- often within months -- every other person who had died in the Marvel universe. Instead of the Pearly Gates, Marvel had a Pearly Revolving Door -- but for someone whose death we never saw, it was only a one-way door. |

I'll have to check up on this, but I think it had to do with "how" she disappeared that eventually lead to her return with the Exiles. Possibly Phalanx-related? Hmmm. Must look into that. |

Just a friendly jab, since Sage had been beset with a bit of off-topicsness in Ask Ed!

Agreed. As as a matter of fact, I wrote a tale wherein Spidey did indeed visit the Realms- and teamed with Drizzt, no less! (He was in the black suit, FYI- you can well imagine what Drizzt must have thought of that.... Add in the obligatory LotR comments from Pete, and it was a fun romp to write!!) I really MUST find that and post it here for all to see- I would bet Sage at the least would get a chuckle!! And I think the blink who "came back" was from an alternate universe. The only X-Man I can think of who has STAYED dead was Doug Ramsey/Warlock. A shame, as he was always one of my faves. |

Is it me or does Wulfgars story seem eerily similar to Conan's.

Eh. There are similarities but that's a given considering that Conan is the codifier for the modern perception of the barbarian hero. I don't see many direct parallels between them. |
