Ickabod was born and abanodoned in the port city of Starmantle. He began his life as a half-drow working as a street urchin and spy for an Oricish thief named Brogan. It wasn't long until Ickabod became tired of Brogan's ill treatment of him. Ickabod began learning the art of assasination on the side. After getting a few notches on his belt He eliminated brogan from the equation of his life.
With Ickabods new found freedom he decided to take on some more challenging assasination gigs. The first of which was a wizard of little fame but much magic. Ickabod Cased out the tower of this wizard and watched his routines and habits for three weeks before making his move. The wizard was prone to take his bathes at a local bath house around 1500 everyday. Ickabods plan was to lay in wait in the rafters above the lcoker room and paunce of the unsuspecting wizard from above after he deposited his belongings. Two hours passed as he lay in wait and the the moment of truth was at hand. He dropped down from the rafters silent as a bat with his short sword to the ready. The wizard was taken completely by surprise and only managed to begin a spell before he slumped to the floor with Ickabods short sword buried hilt deep in his chest. Ickabod quickly Stole all of the wizards belonging including his traveling spell book which he had already learned the opening word to while caseing the wizard.

The Years went by and Ickabod grew into a ruthless and cold killer with his own personal code of honor. It was long and hard but he trained himself in the art of magic by shear will and determination alone. This caught the eye of the demi power Gargauth. Gargauth slowly but surely influenced Ickabod in time to do his bidding until alas Ickabod Became his loyal servant. Ickabod took to Gargauth like a moth to a flame. He took solice in knowing that his god was as ruthless as he was. He liked Betrayal, cruelty, political corruption, powerbrokers and strived to be a priest of garguath but he had other plans for him. |

Ickabod found himself traveling across the realms to the city of baldurs gate. He had been sent on an important mission there by the high priest garguath of Starmantle. He was told that his mission was to infiltrate the thieves guild there and usurp control of it from its leader Alatos "Ravenscar" Thuibuld. Once he rested control of the guild was to report back to Vasonok the high priest of garguath in Starmantle of his sucess. He was given a handful of magical items to help him in this endeavor. He was given a ring of protection, a magical short sword that had the ability to make him invisible, a cloak of non-detection and a pair of boots of elvenkind. he gathered his provisions for his journey and bought a steed. He estimated it would take him several months to travel to the fabled city of baldurs gate and set out on his journey. |

his journey would take him through cormyr, the western heartlands and finally the sword coast and baldurs gate. His first destination of import would be Suzail. Five days into his trip just after crossing the sembian/cormyrean border he encountered a small patrol squad of purple dragons. He had heard much of the purple dragons in his homeland and decided to carefully watch this group and see what all the fuss was about. After following them succesfully for two days the group of dragons stopped at a hunters lodge deep in the woods north of suzail. This struck Ickabod as strange for why would these dragons leave the beaten path to come to this strange lodge in the middle of nowhere. Ickabod wanted to learn more so he hobbled his horse hidden in the brush and invoked the magic of his sword to go invisible. He approached the lodge from the rear where there was a small porch with two chairs. Apon getting closer to the lodge he noticed thru a window that the dragons where talking to what appeared to be a Hobgoblin mercenary. The conversation went on for about twenty minutes and then the dragons left as swiftly as they came.

Ickabod smelled corruption and he knew well that this diversion from his mission my prove to be to his benefit, for Lord Garguath had many enemys in Cormyr. Any dirt he could find here would only sweeten his report later. Ickabod crept up to the lodge carefully watching the hodgoblin that was now siting at a table in the lodges kitchen eating. He silently and deftly picked the lock on the back door. He readied his short sword and moved silently into the lodge and crept up behind his victim. He slashed the hobgoblins achilles tendons one after the other in mere seconds leaving the creature screaming in pain and now lying on the floor on its belly. Ickabod held the sword to the hobgoblins throat and said in hobgoblin " If you wish to live you will tell me what is going on here?". The hobgoblin told Ickabod " First Sword Tanedar's Ride is working for the Zhents, I'm there middleman please spare me and I will tell you where the payment drop off is!". This sparked Ickabods intrest, He badaged the hobgolins wounds and tied him to the chair he had previously been sitting in. He eat the rest of the creatures meal out of cruelty and made him watch promising to kill him if he made a sound. After he was finished he asked the hobgolbin " Where is this drop off site and what is the payment?". The hobgoblin replyed " it is west of here in a clearing, the payment is 100 star Sapphires". Ickabod-" what is the payment for?". Before the hobgoblin could anwser a dull pop eminated from inside his head, his eyes began to bleed and blood began to pour from his ears, nose and mouth. the hobgoblin was dead almost instantly. Ickabod fell to the floor and crept out the back of the lodge as silently and as quickly as he could muster. He was spooked and that had not happened many times in his life. Some one or somthing knew he was on to them. He decided to get back on the road to suzail as soon as possible. |

Ickabod went back to where he had hobbled his horse only to find mound of half devoured flesh starring back at him. Whatever had eaten his horse had left no tracks and was no longer around. Irritated and nervous that some how this had something to with the hobgoblins early demise heback track silently to the road on foot being as careful as possible not to make a sound. Woodland environs where not his expertise, he had never been in a forest before and the sights and sounds of it where alien to him but not altogether unpleasant. He realized that he took to the shadows of the forest with a skill that he never knew he possible. It came more naturally to him then skulking in the shadows of the city, which he was an unequaled master of. Something was following him but could not detect him. He could feel its irritation and thought it best to lay in wait for it to pass. Hours went by before he felt the presence disapear. Ickabod was releaved but night was falling and he was still miles from the road and days from Suzail. Most of his provisions where lost and he had only enough food to make it to the city without any complications. |

Ickabod traveled thru the night against his own best intrestes and made it to the road just before the morning. He was tired and hungry so he ate some road tack and hid himself along the road to get some sleep. Ickabod woke around noon time to the sound of a merchant caravan from sembia enroute to suzail passing by were he was sleeping. " Thank tymora! " Ickabod said to himself. He gathered his things and used the power of his sword to go invisible and sneak onto one of the many carts on the road. The cart was convered by canvas and full of cabages. Not first class accomidations but safe and heading in the right direction he thought to himself. |

The caravan stopped only four times enroute to the city of Suzail. He sneaked out of the back of the cart just outside of the city unnoticed. Ickabod fell into the crowd of pilgrims and travelers entering the city with ease, trying to conceal his half-drow nature. Ickabod Stopped at The Nightgate Inn. He reserved a room for two days and went to case the inn for potential threats, found there were none and sat down in the common room for a couple pints of ale and bread. He eat and drank his meal and planned his next move. He had only 500gp to his name and a long way to go with out provisions that he could not afford to replace. He had to scope out the underworld of suzail and try to make some gold if he was ever going to get to Baldurs gate. When he was finished he quietly went up to his room making sure not to make eye contact with any of the patrons. In his room he locked and trapped the door and window in his room. He knew the score, at least half a dozen thieves knew he was here already if Suzail was anything like starmantle. They would test him or try to break in and rob him. He needed to prepare for this nights encounter , for there would surely be one. The room was very plain, it had a bed, a 3 ft closet, and a window. It was located on the second floor of Nightgate inn. He laid down under the bed with his short sword in hand and one eye on the window. |

Around 0300 a shadowy figure appeared at his window. He could not make out if the form was male or female but knew it was there none the less. The figure took its time at the window carefully surveying the room before Attempting to pick the lock. As the window slid open the poison dart trap Ickabod had rigged the window with sprung into action. The thief was hit square in the groin and startled fell back off the ledge to the street below. Ickabod could hear the wet thud and the quick abruptly ending scream that followed. He waited for the mans partner to enter the room presumming he wasnt a solo thief. No one came. Ickabod was not surprised. It was a rookie move to attempt to rob a newly arrived traveler on the first night. Ickabod moved out from under his bed and walked to the door. Just as he began to disarm the trap a dagger flew across the room to thud loudly into the door frame next to him. He swung around in the nick of time to parry the second thieves blade from stabbing him in the back. His first thought was to unleash a spell at this fool but he had not the time to do so. Ickabod parried his opponents attacks deftly and with effeciency. Then the opening he had been waiting for presented its self. His short sword drank deep of the thieves blood as it slide under his right side rib cage and into his waiting heart deep in his chest. Ickabod aslo hugged the thief close at the same time as he slide his sword into him and with his free arm snapped his neck. He did all this in one fluid movement. He neatly cleaned his sword and sheathed it. His next task was that of disarming the door trap which was quickly done. Then he turned to the dead thief on the floor. He studied his garb for a few moments and searched him completely. Ickabod found little of value save two daggers and 20 silver peices. there was however something of interest in the mans pocket that stopped ickabod cold. It was a holy symbol of mask, ickabod knew it well. He was surprised that such a novice would have such an item and then he placed it into his pocket "this could prove useful" he thought to himself. |

After the events of what had just transpired Ickabod knew that he needed to vacate the premises immediately. He stowed the daggers in his belt and put the 20 silver peices into his coin purse. The body needed to be take care of as well so he neatly packed it into the bedroom closet and summoned an unseen servent to clean any blood that had been spilled on the floor away. Once this was done he vacated his room and walked to the common room of the nightgate. The owner was just coming in from the street when he noticed Ickabod in the common room. "what are yee doing up at this hour my lordship?" the inn owner asked.Ickabod simply replied "what is it to you inn keeper?". The inn keeper got the hint and went back about his buisness of readying the mornings meal in the kitchen. Ickabod slipped outside the in to find that there was a small unit of Purple dragons removing the corpse of the dead thief from the streets. They noticed him and one approached him to ask him questions. Icky feigned indifference to the thief's death and convinced the dragon that he knew nothing of it, but just barely. The dragon had already talked with the inn keeper and knew that this thief had fallen from the building to his death that much was obvious. He was suspicous of this dark skinned newcomer to the city and the poison dart in the groin of the dead thief meant he was going to be trouble. He dragon patrolman knew he must report this to the war wizards quickly so that they could investigate this further. Ickabod took to the streets and in moments he was lost amongst the many buildings of suzail with the nightgate safely behind him. it was early morning still and all of the bake shops and street vendors were opening up for buisness. His room at the Inn would go unused tonight he decided. To dangerous to go back and he couldnt stay at another inn in case the dragons suspected him of the thieves' murder. He would have to find a safe place in the city to cast a Ropetrick spell. Icky search for about an hour until he found citybridge with a landing under it. Upon checking this landing he found that there was plenty of room to cast his ropetrick and that this would be his new home until proper provisions were acquired to make the rest of his journey. |

Meanwhile elsewhere in the city of Suzail. The Purple Dragon reported his findings to the wizard of war Faragut Fizzbunder. Faragut Heard reports like these all of the time. It was his job to seek out the true thearts to the realm from the fake ones and he enjoyed his job. The Dragon described what could only be a Half-drow he thought. They are a rare breed and even arer in the city of Suzail. This outsider must be most interseting indeed. Faragut began his investigation at the nightgate inn around about the same tiome Ickabod was casing out his ropetrick location. After searching Ickabods room Faragut found the corpse of the secound thief and the unseen servent that had removed all evidence of the scuffle. There was not much for Faragut to go on here. A dead thief in a closet and no name on the room roster. This Half-drow is going to be an interseting fellow to track down he thought to himself. |

Ickabod new he needed to find money to buy his new mount and get out of the city soon before he attracted anymore unwanted attention. But how to do it he thought to himself. I know not this city and it will take weeks to become aquinted with its workings. Ickabod being a cruel man by his very nature decided that he should seek out a money lender in the city and divest him of his wealth. Money lenders were powerborkers after all and he needed wealth if he was to continue his journey. he found one just after noon time and search the alley near the building for a side entrance. There in the alley in discovered a groupof street ruffians that were laying prey to defenseless gnomish merchant. Icakbod cloaked himself in invisiblity before any of them had noticed him and stalked up behind the leader of the group. His short sword ready in his hand for the kill. most of the group were holding the gnome down and pilliaging his wares and pockets of any valuables. there were six ruffians in all including there leader. the leader was dirceting the work of the others when abruptly he stopped giving commands and had a short sword blade protruding from his chest as blood gushed from his gaping mouth. Ickabod wrenched the ruffian leader off of his blade with his booted foot and threw one of the daggers in his belt at the closest ruffian face. It sank deep in his forehead and he slumped to the ground. the other ruffians not knowing what had hit them so quickly turned to attack there attacker. The first of which swung at Ickabods head with his dagger and the other swung at his waist. Icky avoided the blow to the head but was cut by the dagger across his waist. This enraged him and he visciously assualted the ruffain that had wounded him with sword blow after sword blow causing the man to become off balanced and fall to the ground. Ickabod pinned the man to the ground by thrusting his short sword threw the mans throat and into the dirt. |

the three remaining ruffians decided to cut there loses and run for there lives. Only two escaped. Icky threw his last remaining dagger at them and it hit home in the back of one of there heads. Icky removed his sword from the mans corpse quickly cleaned it and then returned it to its sheath. The gnome not really sure what had just happened lay on the ground in astonishment. He stood up and offered Icky a potion of healing for his wound which Icky gladly drank and was healed. The gnome began to tell Icky his name but before he could utter a word Icky's short sword was in his belly. Icky smiled into the dying gnomes face and memorized the look of shock and horror that came acrossed it. Someone had surely heard the battle and would alert the Purple dragons soon Icky thought. its best to search the gnome and get back to his ropetrick. On the gnome he found three more potions of healing and a gem pouch with four rubies in it. he took these items and made haste back to his hideout. |

It took no time at all for the word to get out to Faragut that a dark skinned man head attacked a group of ruffians and had slaughtererd them. This report came from the three ramianing ruffians that were arrested fleeing the scene. Faragut knew he had a problem on his hands and that vangerdahast needed to be informed. who ever this stranger was he needed to be stopped before he commited anymore crimes.
Icky made it back to the safety of his ropetrick location. He cast the spell and entered inside. Inside he assesed the value of the rubies at about 500Gp total and cast a mending cantrip on his corsairs blouse. the Cut fabric melded back together and was good as new. Icky had the money he needed to continue but it was to risky now for him to purchase a horse and food stuffs. He would need to lay low for a few days or try to find a way to be snuck out of the city. He ate some bread and cheese that he had taken from the nightgate and got some rest. As he slept he had a nightmare about being trapped in the city of thieves' forever running from the god mask. When he awoke he was sweaty and afraid. He checked his satchel for the holy symbol of mask only to find it was gone. In its place was a scroll. Icky carefully opened and read the scroll. It was a contract from his god. It was his contract with his god. He knew then that if he know possesed it then his god had no power over him any longer. For Garguath binds his followers to contracts of there own devising to enslave there will to his own. If he could destroy this contract he could be free of doing his bidding. Icky thought to himself "Do i want to be free of My Lord Garguath?". He was not sure what to do so he replaced the scroll into his satcel and made his preparations to search for a way out of the city. |

Ickabod silently slid out of his ropetrick to the ground below during the early morning light. The area that he had set up camp had a causeway that he could follow for someways before it would abruptly stop at the city wall. He vaguely remembered there being a sewage drain that the water used to flow up of the city there. This would be his way out of the city he decided. He desmissed his ropetrick and cast few cantrips to disguise his face and made his way to the drain. Upon reaching it he discovered that there was no way to get thru it without casting a few spells, which he could not do without being noticed. Glancing around he found what appeared to be a service enterance door to the sewers. The door was locked, "of course" he thought to himself, and then he got to picking the lock. It was a rather difficult lock for a sewer door but he managed to open it after some time. The sewer was dark, damp, and musty smelling. |

He went inside and found a ladderwell heading down into the bowels of the city underground. He thought to hiself then " best to get down there and find the drain in the wall from the inside and slip out of the city as soon as possible". Ickabod slid down the ladderwell and discovered that he was in a large antechamber in the sewer system. I was dimly light by Glowstones and had the faint smell of early spring rot. The drain was much larger from down in the sewer and ickabod was able to find a hole in the grate that he couldnt see from up above, problem was he would have to go swimming in sewage. |

Ickabod Decided there was no getting around it and made the plung into the rancid liquid flowing thru the grate. Almost as soon as he plunged into the sewerage something large shifted below the surface. Ickabod barely noticed this out of the corner of his eye before he was in and under the surface. Thats when he came face to face with a giant sized neo-otyugh that wanted him for breakfast. He had only moments to unsheath his short sword and swing at the first incoming tenticle before it hit him but he did so deftly. The neo-otyughs tenticle recoiled and it shrieked in pain inaudibly under the sewerage. This was ickabods moment to escape and he took advantage of it quickly.Swimming with all his strenght he made a b-line for the hole in the sewer grate. He had just managed to get thru it when a tenticle wraped around his left ankle. Ickabod managed to spin an brace himself against the outside of the garte stopping the neo-otyugh from pulling him into its gaping maw. He struck the tenticle with all of his might rapidly three times and the neo-otyugh reluctantly released him. Ickabod Swam free of the sewer and into the outside world of faerun. |

Once outside he swam down stream for what seemed like hours before coming to shore and dragging his water soaked self free of the churning waters. He needed to dry off and formulate some kind off plan. He found himself near a copse of fur trees that looked dark a fearsome. Good a place as any to find fire wood he thought and proceeded to enter the dark wood. Once inside it was eerily quiet but he was not concerned with that at the time being, he needed to start a fire and dry out his clothes and gear. After fifteen minutes of gathering fire wood he took out his tinderbox and started the fire. He was nearly dry when he heard it it first a sound that could only be described as boots slinding across a slippery floor. |
