Hello! I'm new here, I hope this is the right place to ask a question!
I was wondering, are there any Faerun specific types of whales? I was also wondering if there was a Faerunian name for what we call in the Real World "orca whales"?
Thank you very much!

Welcome to the 'Keep, Acolyte Thirteen!
There are whales in Faerun, but I heard nor read nothing about 'specific types.'

There are indeed specific breeds of whales in the oceans/seas of the Realms. Sea of Fallen Stars notes at least nine different types:- sperm, cold-water horned [narwhal], beaked, killer whale, humpbacks, snow whale, sapphire whale, night whale, and pilot whale. |

What was the creature that Iakhovas burrowed through the blow-hole of in the Threat from the Sea trilogy? |

Apparently, the Realms also have whales that are not truly whales. |

True. But they're listed under the section on "Whales" in SoFS, so... |
