Hello! I'm new here, I hope this is the right place to ask a question!

I was wondering, are there any Faerun specific types of whales? I was also wondering if there was a Faerunian name for what we call in the Real World "orca whales"?

Thank you very much!

Welcome to the 'Keep, Acolyte Thirteen!

There are whales in Faerun, but I heard nor read nothing about 'specific types.'

There are indeed specific breeds of whales in the oceans/seas of the Realms. Sea of Fallen Stars notes at least nine different types:- sperm, cold-water horned [narwhal], beaked, killer whale, humpbacks, snow whale, sapphire whale, night whale, and pilot whale.

What was the creature that Iakhovas burrowed through the blow-hole of in the Threat from the Sea trilogy?

Apparently, the Realms also have whales that are not truly whales.

True. But they're listed under the section on "Whales" in SoFS, so...
