I need a magical bow (composite long). The region of this bow's creation is an area of Toril that is notcanon. The place is located south of Maztica and I have based it off the Serengeti, Congo, and Kalahari regions of Africa.
Think Savage-based or Storm-based magic.
Bow needs to be powerful but balanced. I run in 2nd ed. tho I can adapt to 3rd ed. stats. The less generic, the better.
Please help...and if any have "African" arrow ideas, I am open to those too. Thanx in advance.

Catslayer.
This composite bow was made by a shaman when the tribe was in danger from lion. This mighty bow infused with magic requires Str. of 16 to use effectively. It is +2 to attack and damage to all targets, it is +5 against any cat or cat like target. Catslayer saves as a +2 weapon. In the hands of one with Str. less then 16 the bow still has its +2 save, but however otherwise acts as a +1 bow, +3 vs, cats. |

Lol, well it is a good thing the character who will be wielding the bow isn't going to have to call Bast/Sharess an enemy. In answer to your question Alystra: I am looking for magical effects. The character for this bow is a F/M archer (half-elf) who has spent the last 10 years running among this land (if you must, think of the place as similar to the Shaar). Her mother was an archer of great renown and I need a bow to represent this. I love the idea of Catslayer, but it is not exactly what I am looking for.
I need a bow that is unique in every aspect of the word. |

Xevo, well I can offer some ideas to make it more special, however I need to know how powerful you want it to be and how specialized. Clearly could might it elf wielded (with half elves having enough blood to use it) and add spell abilities. Additions however add to the power and effective level of this bow, if you want an artifact so be it.
Possible additions, The owner regenerates 1 hit point per round. An aura of protection surround the wielder, 10 foot radius, from any cats or cat like creatures.
Of course Catslayer could be replaced with Troll Slayer if killing cats is the problem. At times a special weapon has special goals. I picked Cat because a Cat treied and almost succeeded in assassination of Lord Kentinal, this of course before he became a Duke. *wink* |

Cats aren't really the problem. She will be dealing with much more dangerous foes. In regards to power, anything shy of an artifact will do. Not intelligent and since it comes from another continent; something that Faerun has never seen before. Ideas I have had from other DMs have been: # times a day - create volley of 3d6 arrows. Or arrows fired from the bow always hit two targets (i.e. it punches through the first target and will drastically change course if need be to hit another). I kinda like these ideas, but feel they are too limited. |
