Could someone give me the closest location of a shield dwarven population to Baldur's Gate? I need the info for my upcoming FR game. I found that there is a shield dwarf pop in the western heartland but couldn't nail the area down, thanks.

I think there are Shield Dwarves in the southern Sunset Mountains.

The Old Grey Box and AD&D for me!

There is a village of Tempus' Tears (dwarves and gnomes) where Thundar's Ride and Skuldask Road meet (detailed in Volo's Guide to the Sword Coast). Also Berdusk has a large dwarven population, around 4000.

If you have the BG series, the question is even easier to answer. Cloakwood mines and Durlag's Tower.

The hidden dwarves of the Sunset Mountains and Far Hills would be the closest Dwarven cities,(I recall they trade at Easting)but these places would be virtually unknown to outsiders, though there would be substantial dwarven populations in any of the Western Heartlands cities.
