For the record, there are a total of three novels in the Transitions series by Salvatore: The Orc King, The Pirate King, and The Ghost King. The third is the only one that deals directly with the spellplague.

"Gods, little fishes, and spells to turn the one to the other," Mordenkainen sighed. "It's started already..."
The undead trilogy by Richard Lee Byres is great fun. It's set in Thay and Szazz Tam's attempts to...Well, you'll just have to read them.
The spell plague features heavilly in them, although I can't remember whether the first novel is entirely set before it.
The Abolethic Sovereignty series by Bruce Cordell are also deal with the after effects of the spell plague. Interestingly Lovecraftian feeling in places too..
