Officially, the rules are too different to convert. That's why they didn't bother to give us a conversion guide this time around, unlike the 2E to 3E transition.

That said, lore is lore. You should be able to just take the descriptions of places and locales and run them in any edition. Converting NPCs may be harder, but no matter the ruleset, a city is a city.

It would probably be hard to convert monster's stats without a good idea of how 4E's mechanics work. But when you look at the powers of certain classes, they could easily be converted to spells or maneuvers or stances of 3.5. Question is, what would you like to convert?

I'd be more than happy to try my hand and making a Spellplagued Gibberling or something similiar.

Regarding Spellscars, I recommend looking at Eberron's Dragonmarks.

I actually DO know everything. I just have a very poor index of my knowledge.

For conversion to 2e, I recommend using Dark Sun references, w/magic users not drawing from the Weave, but from life organisims, either as defilers or perservers.

The adjustments made to playable races should be minimal; I'd just adjust drow magic resistance to a lower level, the source being the gene pool of thier lineage, rather than years upon years of magical practice in the Underdark.

The adjustments made to monsters should be minimal too, w/changes only coming to magic-based creatures (dragons, deepspawn, etc). Magic has changed b/c of the Spellplague, but vegetation, and other things remain intact, I reckon.

Really, just my honest opinion, you might have a more fruitful campaign doing actual Dark Sun stuff from 2e, or just run a campaign of sending the adventurers into dead-magic zones in and under the Anaroch desert. 4e lore and rules not only make a mockery of Ed and his friends hard work on the Realms over the years, but also seem like weak, illogical imitations of Dark Sun.

Well I've already converted alot of 3.5 material to 4E and it really didn't take all that long nor was it overly difficult. When your looking at classes powers, it simple to take 4E's Tiers feature. 1st level at-will, encounter, and daily spells would all be 1st level spells/maneuvers (with encoutner and daily powers slightly toned down) as well as 2nd level utility and probably 3rd level encounter powers. 5th level daily and 6th level utiliy spells would probably be 2nd level spells/maneuvers. 7th level encounter, 9th level daily and 10th level utiliy spells round out 3rd level spells/maneuvers. Take this formula to the second and thrid tier of play and you can come close to 3.5 effects.

As far as special racial abilities go such as Eladrin's Fey Step ability, I'd keep it simple and make it a minor action to teleport 5 squares (which is exactly what the 4E ability does). But it's hard to get an idea of what to convert without more information. Do you need NPCs/monsters, Feats, powers, magical items?
