1) You wouldn't. 2) Valak's already proven himself to be, shall we say morally suadable?

Doggedly converting 3e back to what D&D should be... Sigh... And now 4e as well. |

Welcome back, Kuje!
And so it seems Valthorin will be heading back home to Evereska. He'll see if there will be any caravans from Shadowdale heading near Evereska and join up with them if he can. Hopefully, it won't be a caravan of gnomes. Drow? No problem!! Gnomes? I think I'll catch the next one, thanks.

Looks like we might have a reorganization of the team rosters, and if it happens this will influence what Mourngrym will do next.
As for equipment and horses, each PC can get up to two pieces of standard equipment for free. Just let me know which ones. Everyone can also pick up a bunch of 20 arrows for free. All human-sized riders get a new warhorse. Valthorin will get a new riding horse. I'll update the horses' stats on my private records (no need for to keep track of this yourselves.) |

LOL, Well Valak can be reasoned with...to a point. He didn't necessarily say he'd protect Nagrath again and he did bring him back. So suffice to say he isn't breaking his word. He brought you back from the tomb alive to Shadowdale. Funny thing about wording is that it has loopholes and a lot of schrewd knights in history used honor, while still staying very lawful and to the code, to do very terrible things without ever losing their honor or lawful reputation.
What will probably happen is that Valthorin is about to realize he has just asked a very terrible deed of Valak. And punishment doesn't necessarily mean Nagrath's death mind you. I won't say anymore than that because it will be told when it is more appropriate and hopefully as time goes by Valthorin changes his mind and relieves Valak of his duty. Otherwise, it won't be pretty.
Although I do like to say this is very challenging and very enjoyable so far. I really like the group, but it seems we've hit a rough patch in-character. We'll see if they will all weather the storm or if it will tear the group apart.
Edit: Cool, thanks for the update on equipment, Bar. I'll make the changes on the character sheet. |

| Heh. I've come to the conclusion that Valthorin's problem is that he just hasn't adapted to what being an "adventurer" really entails. |

Nah, I'll stick around this one for a while yet. I do appreciate the offer, however. Wow, I never realized how much fun a PbP could be! I'm really enjoying all of the character interaction we have in the group. |

Out of curiosity, did you have another character that another PC wanted booted from the group? I'm interested to know what he/she was and how it turned out. |

Valthorin's irritated at Valak right now, and simply doesn't believe that he's capable of keeping to his word. Or fearful that he might keep to it... in a way, (read as Lawful Evil). Btw... I really like Valak, myself. He reminds me of a friend's cavalier character in 3.5. Ah, now he was a complicated man! |

| The watchtower is also a supply depot. Anything soldiers would reasonably need can be had here. |

Not one of mine, no. One of the first 3e games I played in I got into because another character got kicked out/the player got too busy. It was an all-human homebrew, where wizards were almost always from one nation: a nation known for being deceptive and manipulative. The first guy really went for the deceptive bit, so I went for the manipulative bit. Oddly enough, we were both supposed to be ambassadors for our realm.
That was a fun game, especially since our nominal party leader was an up-tight paladin, that my wizard manipulated one way and another pretty much at will.
PS: Yes, Mr. Stabby is sticking around. |

Very interesting, and it reminds me of my death knight I played for a while. Saviour Saintsbane. Man, he was fun! Started off a paladin that the wizard (another PC) manipulated. |

Hello all, looks like I'll be joining the group for at least the next portion of the adventure. I've been following along since the beginning and know everything that has happened to this point (although my char only knows what he's been told, of course). Looking forward to joining the fun.
As an fyi, my posts during the day M-F will be minimal, but I should be able to get some posts up almost every weeknight and throughout the day on weekends. |

Welcome to the group!
Maybe as a celebration we should play a little game of pin the arrow on the gnome. |

| Right, because you never pick on the cleric. It's a general rule of adventuring. |

Ooohhh! I think I found a picture of Lithôniel. Just take away the spear and give her a sword...

I actually DO know everything. I just have a very poor index of my knowledge.

| Ok, my computer problems are getting worse, and I don't have the money right now to get it fixed. If I fall silent for a long time, I just wanted you guys to know why. I'll keep posting as long as I'm able to, though. |
