I'll carry it on my person until we can figure out if he is who he says he is or if the sword is lying to us. If Ariton is truly dead he'll keep the sword, but will still offer it back to Randal Morn when and if we find him. Just to clarify is it a longsword? If it is not he'll probably not use it, but if it is he will.

Also, is that gold disk magical? If not, Nagrath will look to selling it once we get back to Shadowdale. He'll probably start at the temple to Tymora.

Well, heck. I'll take the ring if no one wants it...

I actually DO know everything. I just have a very poor index of my knowledge.

I have no problem with that, Ashe. And thanks, Bar, for the info. I'll be adding the new stats to the character sheet.

Considering Lith is supposed to be a primary melee combatant and her AC stinks, I'd say that's a good idea. However, I should also note that Nagrath is the only party member who hasn't gotten any sort of magical item. Since we're likely going to be selling the armor, we might be able to rectify that in Shadowdale, though 2e thankfully doesn't have the 3e Diablo-esque magical item assembly-line/store mess.

Perhaps if Lith could give her ring of fire resistance to Nagrath or Keldon.

Sure thing. We can handle the RP of the ring swap when we get to Shadowdale and find out what the ring does...

I just realized that I was mistaken about the magical items. Or I might be. That grooved dagger we took from the Zhent. Was it a dagger of venom? We never got a spellcraft roll, and if it is magical, it didn't show up in the XP calculations.

It's kind of 'downgraded' dagger of venom. No pluses to attack or damage. Four doses of a yet unidentified liquid. I'll put the party XP value at 175, half that of a dagger of venom.

Ok, works for me.

In related news, I was doing some reading on a different subject and discovered that when wielding two weapons, characters can use their Dex reaction adjustment to off-set the penalty. Since I have a Dex of 18, that means I can dual-wield with -0/-2. I'll need to get another short sword in Shadowdale, but this means I can double my attacks for essentially free.

Hey guys, I've been following your game and have a question about something forum-related that many of you seem quite adept at:

I know how to put a link into my post, but don't know the mechanic necessary to convert that link into text. For example, many of you will post your rolls with the hypertext consisting of "1d20 + 2 = 15" or something to that effect.

Can someone walk me through that? Thanks!

This is how it was explained to me, Cardoc. I hope that it helps you, too.

Say Invisible Castle gives you a link such as this:

[url=http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2086606/]1d1000=935[/url]

Add quotation marks after the '=' and before the first ']' To get:

1d1000=935

And you can type whatever you want between the url tags and get the same link:

How can this possibly be legit?

yay for the parnoid fighter!

Descriptions should never include words such as uneventful, as it always means that something is about to kick off lol.

PS I think our little captive just woke up.

I was considering it, actually.

edit: Oh, alright. I went ahead and did it. Moral of this story: don't get between Nagrath and something when he's convinced he's right.

Note to self. PbP games means you can't 'retcon' another character's actions by saying "I stop him from doing that!".

Haha, I figured something like this was going to happen. But Nagrath is now going to have to face a very angry warrior. And I'm the same, Ashe. I had to fight typing that as well, but what done is done. Time to move on. Hey in the long run Nagrath did us a favor, but now he'll have to deal with the consquences of said actions. :)

Hey, that's why there's a section called "Attacking without killing."

Unfortunately, I don't have my books at work, so I can't look it up right now.

Attacking Without Killing

There are times when a character wants to defeat another being without killing it. A companion may have been charmed into attacking his friends (and his friends don't want to kill him to save themselves!); an enemy may have information the PCs can get only by subduing him; characters may simply see the monetary value of bringing back a real, live monster. Whatever the case, sooner or later characters are going to try.

There are three types of nonlethal attacks--punching, wrestling, and overbearing. Punching is basic bare-fisted fighting. Wrestling is the classic combination of grappling, holds, and throws. Overbearing is simply trying to pull down an opponent by sheer mass or weight of numbers, pinning him to the ground.

There's a couple of other options. You can use some weapons (ie: swords and axes) in non-lethal combat. You take a -4 to hit, and 50% of the damage you deal is temporary.

Then we also have the fun stuff like sleep and color spray. That's going to come in really handy right now.

Oh, and rope. Lots of rope.

Yeah surrender isn't an option for Valak and I'm getting the impression the patrolmen and women aren't going to take prisoners. Best to just duke it out, leave them mildly injured, and just try to knock them senseless (or back to their senses if you ask me). :)

And of course I open up with a nat 1 so I'm on the ground about to get mauled with angry people with swords. I don't have my shield on me however so my ac is just the splint mail. So AC 4.
