Hi,

just enquring if any one can tell the status of the Gatekeepers Crystal (post 1374DR) after it was activated and the waymeet destroyed.
Sorry for my ignorance, the Last Mythal trilogy may detail these events, however, as yet I have not read these books.

The reason for my question I was hoping to run a campaign based around the crystal and Moonsea area and I would like to keep my campaign
consistant with events during 1374DR, which I have, but nothing relative to the crystal.

Any relevant feedback is appreciated.

thanks

Jason

I haven't read it either, but as I recall, Sarya Dlardrageth does indeed make use of the Gatekeeper Crystal in Forsaken House.

The Gatekeeper Crystal (which is discribed in Volo' Guide to all Things Magical, btw) was used by Sarya Dlardrageth after assembling all three pieces to open Nar Kerymhoarth (the Sleeping Citadel) a.k.a the Nameless Dungeon. After its use Gatekeeper Crystal shattered again.

Other than that I cannot recall the artifact being mentioned again in the Last Mythal Trilogy.

To add a bit more, jasdip, after Sarya used it, the party of Aeraevin Teshurr reassembled used and yes, used the Gatekeeper's Crystal to destroy the Waymeet as part of the events of the Last Mythal trilogy. However, to my knowledge, neither the whole artifact or its three shards have been mentioned in lore since 1374.

According to my notes, the Waymeet was destroyed on 22 Eleasis, Year of Lightning Storms (1374 DR). Since the crystal more or less instantly reforms, you as a DM could choose where the shards reform and go and build your campaign from there. Have fun!

One usually has far more to fear from the soft-spoken wizard with a blade and well-worn boots than from the boisterous one in the ivory tower.

I'll note that Steven Schend came up with the Gatekeeper's Crystal in The North boxed set.

And, in addition to VGtATM, see the Hellgate Keep module also.

Actually, I just used it to blow up Hellgate Keep in the North boxed set. It was already created by Ed in the Volo's Guide (IIRC).

You know, I kinda felt that didn't read right when I first posted it.

Wow, I thought you knew everything "Schend"

Is the Crystal good for anything besides blowing the crap out of things? (not that isn't a good thing!)

It's a lovely paperweight.

Download Volo's Guide to All Things Magical (formerly a suppressed work ), it has the write-up, and it's a wonderful sourcebook.

You can read all about it in the Volo's guide, p. 106 et seq.

I'd paste the info here, if it was not so much text...

Hey, that's why I originally fell in love with the Lady K. She blew my last PC to pieces. And she looked good while doing it.

Seriously.

Well I think we need to hear that details of that encounter, but unless she used The Gatekeepers Crystal to do it, I guess this isn't the place
