Some people have received their FR books and have posted the gods on the internet. Some now apparently gone include Mask, Shehanine, Shandaukul, Hanali, Deneir, Aerdie, Lurue, Set, Finder, and Yondalla

Who do you miss

When hinges creak in doorless chambers and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls, whenever candlelights flicker where the air is deathly still, that is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight.

Lurue, as will Wooly. I can't believe Malar is still there without Lurue being there to oppose him.

WTF!? Why the hell is Mask gone!? That makes no damn sense!!! (Sorry, I have noticed that the more and more that we see of the "new" Realms, the more tendency I have to swear in acronym.)

Im blacklisting it,and off to pathfinder rules and not converting to $e realms

why is being a wizard like being a drow? both are likely to find a dagger in the back from a rival or one looking to further his own goals, fame and power

Lurue, Finder, Nobanion, Shaundakul, Lathander.... Those are the ones I like the best, that are apparently no longer around (though some may be nerfed to exarchs). As I've stated more than once, I've never liked the tripartite sun deity idea, and even if I did, I don't think that 100 years is nearly enough time for one aspect to fade and another to rise.

Because WOTC have decided that bigging up Shar as pretty much the all-encompassing-generic-evil-deity (tm) will make it easier for their target audience (12-year old MMO players) to pick up the newly dumbed down Shattered Realms?

Grrr......

I know I'm tending to emit a relentless stream of Sharrian negativity (heh) these days about the Realms, but grrrrrrr.......but when you've spent as much time in the Realms as I have, you tend to feel deeply let down by the recent directions of said Realms.

Which God will I miss?!

I'm not understanding the question.

Unless you mean to follow that new WotC book that has little to do with the Forgotten Realms, aside from the name.

None of the gods in MY FR are going anywhere unless I say so.

None, because they all still live happily in my Realms.

You are probably already aware of this (I seem to remember you on the WotC boards when this stuff went down), but Brian was pretty much unaware of anything that was published in the Grand History of the Realms after 1375. He didn't even receive his complimentary copy before the brown smelly stuff hit the fan.

::cue Celine Dion's love theme from TITANIC::

...sniff...sniff...

I liked Urogalan and Urdlen, patrons of two of my fave PCs; I s'pect they're subsumed by Kelemvor and Gruumsh. Same with old standby's like Isis-Ishtar, who prolly just found out she's really Selune. Or is Mulhorand totally fabu desolation?

But the folks I really wanted back were the tantalizingly obscure Yuir totems. I hoped the Simbul, Queen of Aglarond, would atleast survive as a reinvigorated exarch known as the Simbul.

Matter of factly, it is not entirely sure wwhether they are all indeed gone. I seem to remember that many "Core" deities were added to the roster of 3E only in later books, such as Complete Divine et al. Who knows what a "4E FR Faiths & Divine Champions" book will add to the list we have right now.

BTW, if Shar got the better of Mask, I would hope that she becomes a true deity of night and shadows, not some nihilism-bound half-mad.

Not surprising, that would be excessive lore, something most unwanted for 4e realms.

Yes, hence I wrote Faiths & Divine Champions, where we will see a fifteen page article on Obould and possible Drizzt, Fzoul and the like. Huzzah! "Heroes" to be emulated!

...to repeat what I already said in other scrolls: Why don't we start an organized attempt of expanding the body of lore about the pre-4e-Realms, or even pre-3e-Realms?

I am happy to see that the majority of the candlekeep scribes won't move to 4e (like me, obviously), but to be honest: I am tiring of the constant "not me"-attitude. This is not meant in an insulting way, instead I say let's stop saying "me not" and start acting!

There is sooo much left unexplored in the body of official lore, just a a few examples:
- the Manshoon Wars
- the reclamation wars of the dwarves of Tethyamar
- the Harper Schism
- the internal machinations of the Black Network, details of their "traderoute through the anauroch"-plan

Imho, it souldnt be that hard to establish a more or less organized way of how to do these topics. A couple of sub-forums, one for each topic so the participants don't clutter the existing boards, seems to be a good idea. Then we start collecting all existing lore about the topics, or just a list with references to the relevant books. After that, or parallel to that, brainstorming to collect ideas how to expand and continue the story. As this stuff is obviously not canon lore, these projects create "optional timelines" that will in all likelyhood differ from the established official lore.

...just a few ideas. What do you think?

I pulled this quote from a Rich Baker response over on the Wizard Boards.

quote:
But is it really that important to most FR campaigns that there used to be a goddess of streams and ponds called Eldath?

This tells me that the design team over Wizards does not understand the Realms. They just don't get it. Plain and simple.
