Dear Lady Hooded,

Can you enlighten us as to which part of the Golarion campaign setting Ed worked on?

Is there a way we can see the table of content?

Cheers!

Yeah, I look forward to seeing what they come up with.

Elaine is working on some serials for monthly publications, not on core rule book itself.

Originally in an email from Elaine when I was buying some books from her and commented on hearing that she was involved in the Pathfinder RPG

Yes, I’m very enthusiastic about Pathfinder. For one thing, I’ve been wanting to try writing serial fiction, and for another, writing about a distinctly different flavor of elf is always fun. The people are professional and enthusiastic and positive, and I’m loving the stuff they’re putting out. I just got off the phone with Jim Lowder about the “Worlds of Their Own” anthology. He’s really pleased with it. And you’ve gotta love all the classic fantasy they’re bringing back into print. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a C.L. Moore book on the shelves, and I’m looking forward to reading the books that inspired the woman (Marion Zimmer Bradley) who inspired me to write fantasy.

Might have to check this out indeed, especially since the Pathfinder ruleset is the way to go IMO.

If I waited till I knew what I was doing, I'd never get anything done.

This is definitely exciting...

I don't know if some of you have thought about this, but I thought of transposing the entire Golarion world to the "empty" (terra incognita?) continent east of Shou-Lung [sp?]

What do you think?

Officially, that is Osse. But feel free to do what you want. It is not like they fleshed out Osse much at all in the 3e Realms (other than a few blurbs in Class Chronicles and there was supposed to be a character from there in one of the books, but I do not know which).

Its in the Priest Series. Could the Lady of Poison be the right title? I must admit that that character was one of my main reasons for putting the book away.

You are probably correct about the title, I have never read it though. Rich just mentioned it on the WotC forums when I asked him about Osse because it had been mentioned a couple of times in the Class Chronicles articles.

Yes. All we know about the land itself has been revealed in Lady of Poison.

DHMBIFOM, so what is Argnonessen, Quale? I don't think I remember reading about it anywhere...

As for the rest of Golarion: I'm completely new to it. I haven't purchased any of the Pathfinder stuff yet (by the way, from what I hear so far, I assume Golarion is the name of the world where the Pathfinder setting is set, correct? similar to Toril and the Forgotten Realms right?)

So a few questions to those who have already perused the Pathfinder stuff:

1. Why naming the setting Pathfinder?

2. What about this Gamemastery stuff that is not designated as "Pathfinder?" is that stuff set in Golarion too?

3. Is Pathfinder in fact just the name for a campaign arc? (a-la-AgeOfWorms?... which would explain why there's non-Pathfinder stuff that seems to be set in Golarion...)

4. I know some of you have answered this before, but what is the first product a newbie to Pathfinder should read? is the campaign setting out yet? (i.e. the one listing Ed as a contributor)

Ok... that's it for now...

Argonnessen is the land/continent of dragons in the EBERRON setting.

1. This is pure speculation on my part, so take this with a pinch of salt. The "core" productof the setting is the Adventure Paths, so my guess is they want to play on that term.

2. If you're talking about the Gamemastery Modules, they're now called Pathfinder Modules, so...

3. Nope. It's the name of a product line. But, see answer 1.

4. The campaign setting is, as far as my internet bookseller tells me, not out yet (may be different across the pool, though). And I'd start by getting one of the Pathfinder Modules, and then start picking up one of the Adventure Paths, either waiting for #13 to come out, or try and get back issues of #1 or #7. And I'd also get the gazzetteer (why do I feel like completely mangled the spelling of that? - because I did!) which has a little more than a page about each country on the two main continents of the setting, as well as a bit about the various races and gods.

There is a rumour going around that I have found god. I think is unlikely because I have enough difficulty finding my keys, and there is empirical evidence that they exist.

Thanks Kajehase!

I was feeling lazy, so I went to my FLGS before I saw your reply and asked: "What's the first Pathfinder thing I should buy?" He pointed towards "Pathfinder #1: Burnt Offerings," so I went ahead and bought it... reading it right now...

What a marvelous high-quality product!

Actually, from what little information I have Golarion looks interesting. What books are recommended?

It's called Pathfinder because of the Pathfinder society that's in the setting. Think Harpers, but not too political.

My suggestions for things to buy would be Pathfinder #1: Burnt Offerings. It's a great module, and an awesome start to the Rise of the Runelords adventure path. You might also consider getting the Pathfinder Gazetteer, which is a good introduction to many of the nations.

Other good starting points might be Pathfinder #7: Edge of Anarchy, along with the Pathfinder: Guide to Korvosa. That's a really good module, and shows you a great city called Korvosa, along with introducing the lovely Queen Ileosa.

I was going to buy the Pathfinder Gazetteer, but then I found out about Worlds of Their Own, and Worlds of Their Own won.

I bought Pathfinder #1: Burnt Offerings yesterday... I highly recommend it as a Pathfinder newbie book! It has a short intro to Golarion (and a list of 10 fun facts about goblins, such as horse hate and dog hate!)

Hmm, so I had a browse on Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.de last night for the Pathfinder Gazetteer. It only has 64 pages, which rather disappointed me somewhat. Is the font small? Are there few illustrations? I hope so as I am one of these boring old traditionalists who buy books with the intention of reading them. Also as far as campaign settings go I was exposed to the graphics of First Edition, back in the days when the artwork was at the same standard of $E map-making.

What I would like to do is to be able to actually browse the book.

-Get the rest of that AP as soon as possible.

-My favorite is the Skinsaw Muders.

-That is one sick dude!

-That is one Creepy House.

-Then again there is the Incestous Ogres, in Hook Mountain Massacre.

-Also Classic Monsters Revisited has more info on the Pathfinder Goblins!
