Here is what James Sutter replied to my suggestion on Ed, Elaine, Erik, Richard and Steven as potential authors for Golarion novels:

"As it turns out, we know all of those folks.

Without spoiling anything (and I don't necessarily even HAVE details to spoil at this point, so don't read too much into this), I think you're going to be quite pleased with Pathfinder Fiction..."

So it's not anything official yet, but once again a sign that Paizonians really care about the wishes of their fans! :)

I just got my third and fourth Pathfinder products... I started with the Campaign Setting. I got a copy of Classic Monsters Revisited, but it was in sad shape (got mangled in shipping) so I had to get a new one. And the other day, I got in Dragons Revisited and Gods and Magic. I'm currently reading the former, and will read the latter after that.

I've been impressed with most of the stuff thus far. It hasn't yet grabbed me the way the Realms eventually did (Volo's Guide to Waterdeep is where I went from liking the Realms to loving the Realms), but I can see myself really getting into this setting.

Have you been getting the Adventure Paths as well? Those, IMHO, have 'Volo-esque' qualities to them.

I actually DO know everything. I just have a very poor index of my knowledge.

I can sympathize with that. I've been cutting back a lot recently. Heck, I'm trying to offload all my comics now too, but for some reason comics from the 80's-90's just aren't selling much...

I am actually torn between desiring to start obtaining 2e Realms supplements and to start buying stuff from the PF campaign setting and supporting Paizo. All I really know is that this summer (the time of year in which I get to work overtime) I will buy Monte Cooke's Complete Book of Experimental Might and the final version of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.

In that case, Hawkins, I'd put off on the Adventure Paths until the release of the Pathfinder RPG in August. Sure, the current AP's are fully compatible, but the releases from August forward will be written and designed specifically for the new rules.

You can get the PDFs at a reduced price (or free when you subscribe and the physical book is shipped).

Also, I just saw this when checking the site. They are working on getting Campaign Cartographer as a digital download!

I actually DO know everything. I just have a very poor index of my knowledge.

Gods and Magic is written in a similar style to the FR "deity books", and I think a lot of the stuff could be used in FR pretty easily (for example, Gorum is very similar to Tempus).

Funny that you mentioned Volo's Guides... just tonight I spent a couple of hours reading them, and I found myself thinking that it's a shame that most likely we won't see anything similar to them published in FR anymore. However, I recently got my cope of Guide to Absalom and I think that in quality and style it reminds me a lot of "old skool" FR and Greyhawk supplements -- maybe it's not as good as Ed's amazing Volo's Guides (which are the primary reason why everyone's characters love shopping in my group ), but in my opinion it gets close. Virtually no "crunch" at all, but lots of flavour and details and locations and names -- just the way I like it!

Uh... What?

Sorry if this was confusing Wooly... I was just posting our latest campaign update. We have been playing the "Second Darkness" adventure path, set in Riddleport, a seedy, rogue/pirate ruled frontier/port city at the northwest edge of Varisia.

By the way Wooly, those two books you have bought: it is only a matter of time until it "grabs you," as Ed himself has contributed to the Campaign Setting...

Here are the previous entries:

Party Members:
Zim (Kobald Bard 1)
Elgan Falleaf (Elven Wizard 1)
Mogen Movenpoan (Human Rogue 1)
Chaine (Human Fighter 1)
Taub (Human Cleric 1)

Comic strip-style campaign updates, brought to you by one of my fellow players (he plays the kobold bard...) if anyone cares...

Go to a kobold...
Chapter One, "Intro"
Chapter Two, "Of vermin and other pests..."
Chapter Three, "Blood and Wine" (hey, this one features my PC... the one shown flying out of the window!)
Chapter Four, "Betrayal in the Boneyard"

That would explain why the shipping cost to Germany for the book at Paizo are higher than price of the book itself ...

It's only single-sided. But altogether the book will be 320 pages (estimated) for printing.

I know, I know. But the book is a 576-page full-color hardcover.

The first preview of the upcoming PFRPG is up. You can download the ToC and a spread from the races chapter as PDF.

So who has looked at that Masterpiece Shemmy created called The Great Beyond? Just browsed the PDF this morning. Eagerly awaiting print copy via snail mail.

Todd Stewart = Shemmy? cool!

I agree. The Great Beyond is a masterpiece. I really like Golarion's cosmology. The way he arranged the Inner, Outer Planes, etc. I'm not missing the Great Wheel a single bit.

Aye, Todd = Shemmy. :)

As for the book, I don't have it yet. :(

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Just coming back to the boards from an overly long hiatus but I wanted to make a note that Golarion has just been incredible. I don't think anything will ever capture the magic of the Realms but I believe most of that comes from the memories I have as a kid getting to know them. Can't really compete with that.

Memories aside though, this world will do JUST fine. I was SURE I would love the whole drow arc most but Pathfinder #19 and up have been amazing. Love the feel the whole thing gives off and having Elaine C. writing stories in them ... yes please.

... can I still be a bad A and like kittens?

My previous post was in answer to Misery; Shemmy beat me to the punch!

Now that you're a published author, shouldn't you switch your Shemmy handle to Todd Stewart? just a suggestion... I know it would reduce confusion overall (I'm not the brightest bulb around here, but if I didn't know Shemmy was Todd, perhaps others not so acquainted with the Keep wouldn't know either...)

Loving Great Beyond. I'm saving some of it for the actual print book, whenever I get it... (can't do it proper honours via PDF reading right?)

It's not my first book actually, just the first one I was the sole author on. I co-authored Paizo's Osirion supplement, had a few sections in the campaign setting, and before that had some Dragon and Dungeon pieces. I've just had the Shemmy/Shemeska/etc handle on so many boards online, I've kept it up. Only place I go by my real name at the moment is over on Paizo's boards.

At some point I'll get around to changing names, or adding alts or putting something in a sig, depending on how various boards handle such options.

I just added to my collection of Pathfinder Chronicles stuff... Guide to Absalom, The Great Beyond, and Dungeon Denizens Revisited all arrived today.

They're all going into my reading list; I've just got to finish the Zobeck Gazetteer first.

It's kinda funny... During 2E, I got exactly one third-party D&D book, and I didn't care for it. For most of 3E, I only had a couple of third-party books. But I got to where I was buying those more and more frequently, and since 4E D&D came out, I'm going exclusively with third-party books. Kind of a weird shift, thinks I.

So I was reading The Great Beyond last night... And I read about the plane of Leng. I wonder how many people realize that was almost entirely Cthulhu-based?

Leng was first mentioned in Pathfinder #6 "Spires of Xin-Shalast", where we got some background information on the plane of Leng (including it's ties to the Lovecraftian myhtos). Since then the denizens of Leng are part of Golarion's cosmology. Their most recent appearance is in Pathfinder # 21 The Jackal's Price.
