They are a bit... strange.
I've been on them all day (8 posts!), and I'm still having trouble finding my way around.
Its weird, in this day and age they are still using a 'list' method, instead a more graphical interface.
Plus the fact that BOTH the game system and the setting are called Pathfinder makes it even more confusing, and pile on top of that both of their mags are ALSO called that!
Maybe I'll put a lil' somethin' somethin' in their suggestion box.... |

Yes, Urza, I've seen you and a number of others, like the Knight Errant, over there. Glad you're behaving (unlike some confrontational others) and showing proper Realmsian gentlemen's behavior.
It wouldn't do to have an influx of Realmsian refugees that gave the rest of our friends a bad name

I'm scoping out the Paizo boards right now. Unfortunately, I'm finding the layout to be rather confusing and hard to navigate.
They do take a bit to get used to. The community is great, but the forums are a bit awkward. If its any consolation, the search function works pretty well, so its not too hard to find something that you are specifically looking for, it can just be easy to miss something if it pops up and gets buried.

After more 'scrambling', I found that the look we are calling "awkward" was actually intentional - they are going for a 'minimalist' thing with their site (No custom Avatars, No signitueres, etc).
Still, so far the community is very friendly and helpful, so its worth the extra effort. |

Yes, that confused me as well.

Indeed, I did do some searching around, and the search engine works well. Good to hear the community is nice.
I'd like to join, and maybe I still will in the future, but for now the site layout is a turn-off. |

I read that the boards are a custom solution for Paizo, to help them integrate the boards with the rest of the site, particularly with the Store.
Either way, it's good to see you all there. Mace, it's possible to post under a pseudonym, I believe. |

Yes, I noticed that there was indeed a place where you can create alternate names for your account, so I hope to see you there, Mace.
I've noticed several people from here and WotC participating in my thread there, and it makes it feel more like home - thanks for that.
EDIT: Most of the text from this post was just moved to the Golarion thread, because it was more appropriate there.
News: The Pathfinder RPG 3.0 Alpha will be released today, and then its going to Beta for the next 10 months.
They are adding in the Monk, Bard, and Ranger this time out. |

Looking forward to seeing what they do with the monk. My favorite class concept, but the class is broken so i almost never play one (insane damage die and speed just make the class ridiculous, on top of 5 attacks per round). |

Ok Paizo forums 101.
http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards
Important link. :)
There's a grey bar across the top of every "section" of the forum. If what's in that forum doesn't interest you, you can hit the arrow next to the "section name" that's pointed down. That will "minimize" that section so you only see the "section name" and you can click the arrow to maximize it again.
So for example, the first section is Paizo.Com. The forums for that are.. Customer Service, Product Discussion, Website Feedback. If those don't interest you as sections you want to see, hit the arrow. Do it anyway just to see what happens.
Now on the left side of the forums is a menu. It shows you all the forums sections. Paizo.Com, Paizo Publishing, Paizo Community. These let you navigate to a "page" that only shows the forums in that section. So say you "minimize" Paizo.Com but you have a problem with your order. Instead of changing your default look by maximizing Paizo.Com, you could just hit Paizo.Com on the menu there and you'll go to a "page" with just Customer Service, Product Discussion, Website Feedback only.
I typically go straight to publishing, but keep my eye on other things.
Now if you're comfortable with the concept of "minimizing" section, you'll be happy to here that you can minimize forums. This is helpful in the Pathfinder RPG area. There are seperate forums for Alpha 1, 2, 3. Since the current version is Alpha 3, it doesn't make sense to look at those forums, so they can be minimized and you won't see 1 and 2 anymore unless you maximize them.
The Paizo forum setup is much more user friendly if you minimize all the forums you are absolutely not interested in for a default look at what you always want to see and use the menu on the left to navigate to what you've minimized if you suddenly need it.... or atleast that's how I feel anyway. :)

Also, the Paizo chatroom can be found here. Paizo staff frequently pop in to chat, and hold formal chats on many days of the week. It's quite good, so pop in! |

@SirUrza - thanks for that How-to - It really helped to minimize all the clutter. Without any sort of graphical references like on other sites, it looks rather like a long, confusing Word Document.

While they haven't redesigned the forums, this is the second or third reorganization they've done of them. It's been worse. ;) |

Just started a "Give us Steven Schend!" thread over there - its not up yet (I assume their site requires someone to approve a thread before it becomes active?)
Anyway, as soon as I see that the thread is up, I'll post a link. It would do my heart good to see the 'old gaurd' back together again.
The thread is up - please go there and show your support |

Which I am eagerly anticipating. With Blackstaff you established yourself as an author whose works I want to collect all of. Don't let me down, keep writing excellent works! (Also, I enjoy seeing what authors of shared worlds do when they do not have all of the loopholes to jump through in worlds of their own creations.) |

-Yeah there is no Beta/Warning/Pity Trolls over there in the Paizo Forums. Just to think that one person has been banned twice on the WotC forums, and is working on his third ban from there.

I have a Pathfinder RPG Alpha 3 Character Sheet that I have created if anyone is interested. I cannot post it to RPGSheets right now because of some sort of database error, so if you would like a copy PM me your email. |

I am reading the PRPG Alpha 3 right now, and I am very impressed what they made with the sorcerer. The bloodlines are an ingenious idea which distinguishes the sorcerer most striking from the wizzard. |

What's most interesting to me is that their philosophy toward their customer base is - in many ways - the opposite of WotC's, such as an open design process that solicits input, evolutionary rather than revolutionary changes so folks can keep their current books, and focus on simulation and minimizing the battlemat rather than The Other Company (tm).
What, a company listening to its customers rather than simply telling them what they want? Inconceivable!
More seriously, this sounds like a good idea. I am seriously bummed to think that the several hundred dollars worth of 3/3.5 Ed books I got are now so much wallpaper. |

Alright, I launched my Pathfinder Alpha playtest campaign tonight, and I can't recall the last time I have been as excited about running a D&D campaign!
I decided to set it in Thunderstone, in Cormyr. If you want to, you can read about it here:
