Wow... they're resorting to weak humor schticks to make the pill easier to swallow. "Sad that gnomes aren't in the PHB in 4E? watch this!!! you'll forget everything!!!!"

I was going to comment, as I did, vehemently, on Paizo, but I'm fighting that addiction right now, so I'll keep quiet for now.

The biggest insult of all was that it wasn't even funny.

Gnomes had potential for development. They were a bit stale as a race because of an over-emphasis on gem cutting illusionists on the part of Wizards (in other words, a problem they created). I can see what they are doing, moving the gnome a bit closer to their mythological roots - but I don't much like it.

I have no feelings on the changes to tieflings, I always thought they were a bit cheesy in the first place.

It was funny. Gnomes will still be PC's in my campaigns though, 4E or no 4E. Who's your minion

Suspending, for a moment, the dislike I have for the wholesale changes in many races, when I read in Races and Classes that they were originally going to make gnomes more like whisper gnomes, and they would have served as a spy network and advisers to elves, I thought it was an interesting hook . . .

But then they said that they scrapped that idea because it made races look "weak" to rely on another race . . .

Knight, the answer to our blues right now is to game more in our respective 3.5 Realms campaign! if you, like me, are currently experiencing a shortage of games due to your players having way too many famility commitments this time of year then your answer is "Oblivion" if your PC can handle it, or "Paper Mario" if you have a Game Cube (yes, these two games pretty much summarize what I've done with my first day of holiday vacation... woohoo! 10 more days off to go! )

Yeah, my gaming group has indeed scattered a bit due to the holidays, and I'm off until January 2nd myself. Remember those days of reckless youth when a week or so off of whatever your normal commitments were meant you were probably going to schedule a marathon D&D session or two? Ah, the long forgotten days of my misspent youth.

Thankfully, I have the kids to keep me company while I'm off work, and once they open the Wii, I'll probably figure out what to do with my time . . . that and the sixteen brand new Green Ronin books that my dear wife got me for Christmas when Paizo had their sale.

And to get back on topic, I have a gnome in my current game, and he has neither lair nor minion. He does have this book though . . .

LOL! thank God for the holidays... and video games...

Shame on my players for being wishy-washy about a gaming marathon over X-mas though! They teased me two weeks ago, told me that "they would have lots of gaming time over the break," and "that they were completely free to game for days on end..." Now, it's all "huh, I don't know... Sunday's no good for me, Thursday maybe and then maybe Monday the 31st after that..." I hate teases!

Wow. That says a lot about the design principles being used, I think.

I also didn't think this cartoon-thing was very funny. Nor was the beholder one before it. The voicework, especially, is annoying.

1) At least the tiefling babe was hot, no pun intended. And can you really blame her for frying those other two jokers?

2) Ye gods, is that what they think gnomes are like?

I don't think they care, so long as you keep buying their stuff.

It's not bad for money-making to be A concern -- they need to make money to stay in business -- but I believe that making cash in WotC's only concern now. Bad as TSR could get, they at least cared somewhat about the game and setting[s].

And yes, some of the WotC people care, too, but they seem to be a distinct minority.
