I had almost forgotten there was a Realms adventure in this one. For those of you keeping score at home, according to the adventure background:
Nesme hires lots of mercenaries in 1368 DR to drive out increasing numbers of trolls and orcs, then find out that there are fog and cloud giants afoot as well.
Nesme is attacked and ruined by an army of trolls in 1370 DR (see the Hunter's Blades Trilogy) and the trolls are driven off by dwarves from Mithril Hall and Mirabar.
By 1371 DR, Nesme has be rebuilt and repopulated.
By 1372 DR, Nesme is largely isolated from the rest of the Silver Marches due to a resurgence in the giant raids, and Nesme hires mercenaries, Uthgardt barbarians, and lizardfolk to help guard the town.
Then the adventure in question begins.
Haven't had too much of a chance to delve through it other than to read the introduction, but I do wonder if this is definitively the last word in the Nesme timeline of events.

no, I don't get it, Dargoth.
However, in a homebrew world that I used to play in, there was a city whose primary defense was its ability to rapidly re-populate itself. A deity VERY similar to Sharess was the patron deity of the city. Among other social customs, one week a year was set aside where the citizens were entitled to sexual amnesty. Do it with anyone you want, as long as they want you too. Birth rates in that town were astronomical... |

Is he some epic-level NPC from Osse? |

Yes and no, Asgetrion: he was Lord High Accountant of Osse, but is now some guy you see on the street with slightly-piglike ears (orc blood?)
On the topic: I recently sourced a copy of the Dungeon 144 and have yet to read the adventure in detail. Has anyone played/DM'd through it and/or has some sage advice on said adventure? All comments welcome.
