And in chapter 13, we get a glimpse of politically correct orc culture from ancient times.

On the plus side, I like how the fight scenes are using creepy enemies that haven't been used much before. While I'm not a huge fan of RAS's combat scenes, it's nice to read about scary, ugly planar enemies rather than: "Drizzt and his friends came upon a random group of goblins, which they slaughtered easily."

"Instead of asking why we sleep, it might make sense to ask why we wake. Perchance we live to dream. From that perspective, the sea of troubles we navigate in the workaday world might be the price we pay for admission to another night in the world of dreams."

Yes, it is good to see he still has to work to win sometimes.

Agreed. What's funny is that some Drizzt fans (I visited RAS's forums) are annoyed by Drizzt having a harder time in this book.

WTF!? One of the themes of the Realms (I think this was stated by Ed) is that there is always someone better than you.

Well, some people don't think that should apply to Drizzt.

You forget the level in barbarian, sir, so that should be drowfightersrangersbarbariansturnedgood. Or maybe turnedchaoticgood, or is that too narrow?
