For my next two deity conversions for the Forgotten Realms campaign, I will include Bane and Shar. I'll be doing Bane first. There isn't a sphere of influence for Fear. But there is one for Rulership and Kingship. I figure that Bane falls under that sphere. Bane was detailed in the first Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting (1e), in later campaign settings for FR he was destroyed during the Time of Troubles, but later on returned for 3e. Remember, the Spheres of Influence are in the Channeling Companion. Bane is opposed by Torm.

Alignment: Lawful Evil
Profession Bonuses: Armor group (+10), Influence (+15), Lore group (+5), Power Point Development (+5), Spell Group (+5), Weapon Group (+10)
Skill Classification: Occupational: choice of one skill in the Influence skill category; Everyman: all skills in the influence skill category, Heraldry, History, choice of one Language skill (spoken and written), Religion; Restricted: None.
Spell Lists: Ceremonies, Crusade, Holy Symbol, Holy Element, Proselytizing, and Dark Channels.
Special Abilities: A special bonus of +15 to the Influence skill category.
Prime Requisite: Self Discipline.

Do you intend on elaborating on Xvim at some point?

I can. There wasn't a whole lot of information on Iyachtu Xvim because I couldn't afford Faiths and Avatars. I picked up Faiths and Pantheons after I picked up the FRCS for 3rd edition. And there wasn't a whole lot of information on Xvim, except that he was an "egg" for Bane.

There's a fair amount of evidence that 3E Bane was actually Xvim.

It's not conclusive, and given WotC's actions since 3E, it's kinda moot, but here's the evidence:

Hmm, very interesting read. I came to the Realms after the Time of Troubles, actually (I bought the FRCS 2.0 with the horseman on the cover when I was 18). I managed to get the 1e Campaign Setting later on and started reading it. It could be that Xvim did stage an act to take his father's place (made it look like he ripped through his own body). The question is simple: why all the theatrics?

Still, I intend to run a campaign in the Moonshaes using RMSS/FRP. The Northmen mostly worship Tempus, but in the original Moonshae trilogy, Bhaal played a part. I get to make Moonshaes (and the realms) more of my own, though, for that game. Since in Rolemaster, you don't stat out avatars, higher level PCs face different threats.

I like Bane 2.0 (whether or not he's Xvim). That only matters if one runs a campaign where you challenge the gods. In my Rolemaster campaign, that does not happen.

If Wooly is correct, then Xvim successfully pulled off the best con job in the pantheon.

I had a sneaky side theory I wanted to tinker … suggesting Xvim “somehow” nabbed the portfolio of ‘deception’ from the *dead* [at the time] Leira … to help pull off that con job. Obfuscating the divine energy of the Realms - in much the same way Palpatine obscured the Force during his time as Darth Sidious - and allowed 3e Bane to be the guise of Xvim.

Hmm . . . Xvim nabbing the portfolio of deception from Leira. That would be something to think about. Still, it doesn't matter in people's campaigns where they aren't having anyone challenge the gods. However, if someone ran a Deities and Demigods (3.x) campaign where the heroes challenge the gods . . . then they could expose Xvim.

Helm would definitely commission a party to investigate such chicanery. Helm despises trickery as much as Torm or Tyr.
