Greetings and excuse me, given that there are so many realm's books and stories in the FR world, it can be confusing about their chronological order, so can anyone provide a list of the chronological order of the realm's books and stories?
Thanks in advance.

(PS: Might as well make it permanent)

This is indeed a very....how should I say tall order. Uh...please allow me to render some assistance.

There are two: One is messy where the FR years of the novels are not really organized in order, at Wotc.

We have fostered trust, recruited loyalty, and gathered the faithful. We have trained thousands. Our legions can cover the land, fill the sky and travel through the darkness. The Chronological WotC FR novel listing is good, but it is largely now out-of-date. I would suggest you cross-reference that particular listing with Brian James' A Grand History of the Realms (soon to be updated) which also contains timeline references for FR novels that have been published past the point of the WotC listing.

Hmmm. As this is a common request I may just add a brief novel timeline as an appendix to the next Grand History update.

It's not a bad idea, and a lot of the work is already done.

Incidentally, even though the dates don't appear in the book, Son of Thunder takes place in the fall of 1373 (it's definitely during the Year of Rogue Dragons and also definitely takes place prior to Forsaken House).

No prob.

I felt bad because I didn't have a copy of Son of Thunder next to me, to compliment the Master of Chains and Ghostwalker bits. Thanks for pointing that out, Murray!

The Grand History of the Realms has the Hunter Trilogy starting in 1368 and ending in 1369. However I've read far more often that the trilogy started in 1370, and ended in 1371. Someone even quoted Salvatore.

Anyone know the basis that Brian James bases his dates?? =)

Well, originally the Silver Marches were founded in 1369 DR, but that date has been . . . modififed because it seems like events which had to take place before the founding have taken a while to resolve.

Hmm, so was the founding date for the Silver Marches changed, or the dates for the novels?

Officially the events of the Hunter's Blades Trilogy are set in 1370 DR ending in the early winter months of 1371 DR. The League of the Silver Marches is formed the following spring in part as a response to the founding of Obould's new kingdom.

The other one is something I copied a long time ago but sorry, lost the site name. Don't know if it is complete or not because I suspect there are some missing parts here and there.

1362 Year of the Helm
"The Ring of Winter"

1366 Year of the Staff
"King Pinch"

I'm trying to read the Realms in chronological order, and I can tell there are errors in this list. The novels I left are the two I've identified for sure, but I think there's more. It does not make sense for The Ring of Winter to be set in 1362, and James Lowder has confirmed the story was meant to be set in 1363 DR.

I have now reached 1366 DR and am reading King Pinch, and I've come across a character say "may Kelemvor grant him swift justice", even though as far as I know, Kelemvor is a random dead soul at this point, since Prince of Lies is set in 1368 DR according to the same list, so nobody should be worshipping him as god of the dead.

Kelemvor rose to godhood during the Time of Troubles alongside Mystra and Cyric, 1358 DR.

In the novel Waterdeep, the mortal Kelemvor Lyonsbane ends up killed by Cyric. Later, Ao grants Mystra’s domain to Midnight and the Dead Three’s to Cyric. My understanding is that Cyric, now god of the dead, wants to torture Kelemvor’s soul but can’t find him. Kelemvor eventually becomes god of the dead instead of Cyric, but that is from Prince of Lies, which is apparently in 1368 DR, 10 years after the Time of Troubles (I’m not sure why a book published so few years after the Avatar trilogy was set so late in the timeline, when dozens of books published after it are set in the early 1360’s). Again, Prince of Lies is still on my list, and I don’t know whether there have been retcons later. But I don’t think Kelemvor should be more than a dead hero in the decade that followed the Time of Troubles. But if Kelemvor has been the god of the dead for two years in the real world, I understand why authors would mistakenly consider him such when writing novels set in the present, not realising that the present is actually two years before those books.
