I didn't have these books, but I read them a long time ago.

So I can't remember the exact title and author in english.

The heroes are a paladin Militiades, I believe, Ren a ranger, and a female wizard with a particular familiar, a lynx.

My question is on the lynx.

How do the lynx change in barbarian ?

Thanks for your future answer.

From Tethtoril's Bookshelf here at Candlekeep:-

* Pool of Radiance
* Pools of Darkness
* Pool of Twilight

The familiar doesn't conform to any rules I knew of then, or any I've seen since. It's part of the reason I don't like that trilogy: compared to other Realms novels, the trilogy is full of simply ridiculous concepts.

not sure, good theory though. It was 2E, I think the improved familiar concept started with 3E.

On page 69 of pool of twilight describes his transformation."a faint shimmering light surrounded the cat. His tawny pelt began to undulate as his form started to change. In a blink, the great cat was gone. In his place was a hansome man, a tall wild-looking barbarian".

Additionally, he has a telepathic link to Evaine and his intelligence seems to be at least that of a normal humans.

Interesting. Is it a kind of improved familiar ?

Gamaliel is the familiar to Evaine, the sorceress, who is out to destroy all of the pools of darkness. on page 110 of the heroes lorebook, it states that he is a large cat that resembles a saber-toothed tiger(MM, page 36) in size and in attacks.

He is able to assume human form, appearing as a tall human barbarian, with a broadsword. He is impervious to normal missle weapons and wears a ring that gives him immunity to all poisons. While Gamaliel attacks as a 7th level fighter in human form, his claws and bite attacks as a cat are much more damaging to opponents.

This is all that I can find. the novels don't give much more except that he can change at will and in human form and has green eyes.

Heroes Lorebook and Villians Lorebook has the stats of the chars from those novels. If you don't want the hardcopies, Heroes lorebook can be bought for 5 bucks at paizo's or rpgnow.com's web page. Villian's Lorebook is on the free download list on the WOTC site.

As for your question, I don't recall the answer.

Shal - wizard
Tarl - priest of Tyr
Ren - ranger- thief

Miltaidies - undead paladin on a mission ( any other info is spoiler)
Tern - Shal and tarl's son - paladin
Daile - Ren daughter - ranger
Listle - elven apprentice to Shal

Evaine - sorceress
Gamaliel - shapeshifting cat who could opt for human form anytime he wished( page 70 pools of twilght) I believe it was more of a great cat like a tiger, more than a lnyx

that should cover it.
