This game that this book was based on was, for me, what got me started into Dungeons and Dragons in the first place. When I read the book, I found that it captured the spirit of the game quite well. In particular, Cadorna and Tyrantatharaxis (spelling? it's been a while) were well developed in relation to their game selves, albeit they had more lines in the book ;)

One thing that always nagged me was the firepower that Shal had in the book, contrasted to what you got in the game. I mean any idiot with a staff of fireballs could have cleaned out Sokal keep, which is what she had, if memory serves. The other missions, especially Valhingen and the Textile house, were very loyal to the game.
