Character
Description and History
Leiona Dagdar was born the daughter of the King of the Moonshae
Isle of Moray.During her teenage years, she met and became influenced
by some royal guests who were travelers from Tethyr, and was especially
fascinated by their wizard and his stories about ancient secrets
and powerful sorcery. It was then that she began to learn as much
about magic and spells as possible without being discovered by her
father or his counselors,as the Ffolk of Moray tend to be almost
as suspicious of wizardry as the Northmen.
For a while, she managed to acquire tutoring here and there from
occasional visitors until at about 22 years old she gained enough
knowledge to earn her 1st level status as a wizard, coupled with
her training in combat/survival and self-defense put her at the
edge of 1st level as a warrior. It was at this time that an ominous
and very tragic curse fell upon her family and their people.
When Leiona was born, she was actually born one of twin sisters, but
sadly, her twin and her mother both died in the childbirth,or at
least seemed to,as her twin miraculously revived back to life a
day later, seeming to be healthy and normal.
But as a few years went by,her 'sister'began acting more strangely
and disturbingly ruthless, even malevolent, until when forcibly confronted
by her father andseveral ministers, she flew into a rage and ,before
their eyes, her features shifted into something undeniably diabolical;and
pronouncing a terrible oath of vengeance upon the whole of Moray
and it's people, fled into the deepest wooded hills along the eastern
coast.Years later, there came increasing reports of the eastern woods
and hills being haunted and sinister, until when Leiona had reached
womanhood, the first of the undead and tanar'ri began openly venturing
out from their lair and the her demon-sister "Cailyn"
appeared before the castle gates threatened the enslavement of the
whole isle.Leiona, sensing that somehow she and her 'sister'were
somehow intertwined in this drama, fled on a merchant vessel to the
sword coast to look for anyone she could find to help her confront
her tanar'ri twin,ended up in Waterdeep;but shortly after arriving,she
was hunted down by sahuagin and lizard man agents of 'Cailyn',aided
by an aquatic dragon.
As fate would have it, Celeborn
Earendil and a half-ogre companion, called "Bloodthirsty"
Zad,were in town trying to locate the hidden 'crimelord' of Waterdeep-a
beholder guildmaster-in retaliation for his assassination attempt
on several other members of their group, when they heard her struggling
down in the sewer-ways.After locating her and saving her from her
pursuers, she tld them her tale and, after returning to report to
their companions, retold the story, convincing their companions to
try to help her as well. Finally, they made their way to Moray, and
after meeting with the king and pledging their service, they sailed
theirr ship around the coast to an cliff-cave opening directly out
on the ocean and began a terrible and overwhelming battle against
the demoness' minions, until at the last,Leiona herself cast an old
warding spell against evil and her 'sister' was banished back to
the Abyss, and still has never been heard from again.
During this trial,Leiona and Celeborn began to feel very strongly
for each other in a very short time, and when the threat was ended, she
decided to accompany him and his companions to the savage north, where
they were just beginning to build their own town between the Long
and High Roads from Waterdeep to all the other towns, and joining
together all their skills and resources, built a road connecting
the 'Twin Roads' with their town,Hillcrest, right in the center, which
allowed the town to grow and thrive in a very short time, with all
the companions being co-equal "Lords of Hillcrest",while
Celeborn and Rand Brightwarden both helping her to train and hone
her skills throughout their adventures, with Celeborn and Leiona
finally marrying, during a huge Victory/Harvest Festival in Hillcrest
celebrating it's widely admired prosperity and fortune.
Even more, her father is finally preparing to step down from his
throne, and has invited Celeborn and Leiona to replace him as King
and Queen of Moray, with great support from the people,as well as
a few of the other monarchs of the Ffolk, particularly Tristan and
Robyn of Corwell
