Character
Description and History
Son of a waterdivian blacksmith, his father tried in any way to
train Brandimarte to follow him in his craft, sadly the youngster
was never able to get past the threshold between willing helper
and true craftsman.
Dreaming of glorious adventure in the name of his god, Brandimarte
attached himself to a passing paladin as non-official squire. He
was "adopted" by his mentor's company. All the members,
liking him for his candor, good humor, and willingness, tried to
help him reach paladinhood, to no avail. He simply wasn't made for
that.
Neverthless, strong as an ox and resilient, Brandimarte became
a fearsome warrior and determined to be the best "not-quite-paladin"
around.
On reaching adulthood he entered service in the temple of Lathander
in Waterdeep as lay knight; there he met Deianira, at the time a
senior novice, and promptly fell in love with her. Feeling that
she would not consider him suitable, he tried to be assigned to
tasks that would keep them apart, but the temple autorities chose
the steady, calm warrior as the ideal adventuring escort for the
unruly, impulsive young priestess.
During a research expedition on a long forgotten religion, the
two found themselves separated from their companions of the time
and lost in Har-Akir of Ravenloft. There they met the Black Roses
and banded with them to escape.
They have been together ever since.
