Greetings All!
I am a complete buffoon for not obtaining the whole 1st edition mini-book set when it was available. I know this, so no further mentioning of my buffoonery is needed! This brings me to my point. Does anybody out there know where I can obtain these rare items? I have searched the net and all I can find is the occasinal single book which will only wet my appetite but offer no genuine satisfaction. I know. I am also far too rigid and inflexible and should probably consider not playing with the 1st Edition rules. That's never going to happen. Sorry. I still love the 1st edition. It's like my favorite quilt my mom made me. Or a good cheese. Thanks for everybody's help! Well met!

I assume that he's refering to the 21st Century Games' "Reprints in Miniature" line of books. They were printed in the early 1990's. More information about these bookscan be found in this thread over at acaeum's forums.
I know that one of the reprints was the Menzo box set, because I have that one. The mini games are small enough to it in the palm of your hand. They're kinda cool.
As for the OP's question about where to get them, I do see then on e-Bay occassionaly. They go for $15-$30 each, depending on condition. |

The really are cool - but you often you need a magnifying glass if you want to get the details in the drawings for example.
I always thought it be better to be able to read the originals |

Alas! I have the entire complete first edition set, including both covers of the DM's Guide and the Player's Handbook. The problem is, (or at least used to be) transporting all these tomes to and from the places where I was gaming. You never know when you need a certain specific rule or monster or some such, so it was always nice to have everything handy. With the mini-books, in addition to the "cool as feathered hair" nostalgia,I could have every book available if needed when I was travelling with the need to only bring the most essential books. You might ask, "Why don't you give up and play the latest WOC edition?" To which I would reply, "May a neo-otyugh live in your toilet!"
There was just something about those first books. When you leafed through them, it felt like you were perusing ancient grimoires of forbidden lore. Granted, some things like psionics and unarmed combat were over complicated and you had to make some stuff up as you went, but that was half the fun!
Now it looks and feels like....a game.
