This is fun... First, I'd make sure my daughter was set for life and I'd buy her an amusement park or something, just for fun. Then a mansion with a huge pool. Then I'd get my wife whatever she wanted, then on to me...
I'd hire Peter Jackson to make a Forgotten Realms movie trilogy with an original script by Ed, Elaine, and Steven. I would also hire a professional DM to run games for my group (that way I could fire him) since we all prefer playing over running. I would also quit work and college and go to art school. |

Buy over the entire WotC and the staff inside, to keep sure that the fans are always happy with the WotC works by monitoring WotC from the inside.

| I'd build a huge fortress and i'd hire guards trained in the long sword to guard it, i'd also open an in-house academy to teach people long-sword fighting and AD&D. Beneath my castle I'd build a secret door leading to my wizard lab and i'd store it full of old books from different cultures and ages as well as stocking it with every AD&D book i could find. I'd bid for first editions too with my vast wealth. Then, after attaining all i could I'd sit in my secret wizards lab and laugh an evil laugh at what i'd accomplished :D |

Hmmm...rich...what is rich? Having learned the trade of a banker I know stories of people who'd won a million Euro or some such thing and they were broke within 2 or 3 years. Considering my being unemploeyed that is rich. But super rich... OK, well... I'd invest the money in a way that I can:
a) live of the interest generated per month b) travel the world c) rent a decent sized house d) have a house-keeper that cleans up after I spent a night in whatever room and made a mess out of the books kept there e) get a hybrid-car f) found the Church of Rock so I can spread the gospel of Rock/Metal next to Jehova's Witnesses, supported by either the bands themselves or a massive PA g) support, or maybe even buy (eventually) an old castle/monastery and make it a reenactment/LARP/RPG retreat. (yes, I do intend to make my money work for me as well! :) ) |

| A yes, the old and wonderful idea of a religion of Rock I can see that religion going very cultish as I proclaim the gospels of St Allman, St Lynnot and demand organ pieces being played in honour of Lord (and I then mean Jon Lord). Well Delzoun can preach the progressive side of the church and I the Orthodox version. |

The castle idea, it would be a good one in real life.
If Alediran would get rich, he wil surelly build a mage tower where the academy of magic was located in Myth Drannor, aquire the necesary informaton to find the Aryfaern'Kerym and then go find it. |

| Now, if I were filthy rich, that would take all the fun out of being broke and searching desperatly for all the Forgotten Realms novels for under about 98 cents, now wouldn't it? Although I would very much like a castle, thank you, can I move into one of yours? And a new comput------------------URK! IT KEEPS DOING THAT! Blanking out what I say! Freakin' computer...Now, what was I saying? |

| No, wait, I know what I'd do! Not only would I buy a new computer, I'd also indulge in hiring a horde of proffesional violinists to follow me singing my praises 24/7! Of course, after awhile I'd start despising violin music... |

Yeah no nationalistic slurs please! =( too old for that stuff!! but opinons must be uttered, but more diplomatic perhaps?! :) If I got super rich I would never work again,(one of the unlucky ones who HATE their job)Invest some of it i belive. Buying FR products will not be an issue(have what I want, and am buying it when it comes out, dont need to be super-rich to do that :P). Helping out family and friends would be high on my list, and a BIG house with a HUGE gaming room and a computer room!(finally gettin rid of my irritating neibor, that f.....). And gettin my cat Gimli nutered:D, expensive! Of course a large donation to the running of candlekeep will be in order ;P (alot of a...-kissin' going on!! But seriously...)
As to the rpg prospect, I had a char who was filthy rich, its not what its all cranked up to be , too many worries!

I'd buy about 50,000 acres and build two castles on it. One in which I lived and another that would be the focus for a theme park (Realms Themed of course). Then I'd build the park with the various stores and other attractions, think Medieval Times in Orlando, Fl,USA only bigger, basically a very large permanent Rennisance/Fantasy Faire, that would be self sustaining hopefully. The employees for that fair would be welcome to build (with a good portion subsidized by me) period homes in an seperate identical, but smaller town for the employees and their families. This smaller town would also have a very large game store with a tavern feel, and an actual tavern nearby, and also a general store for food and the like, all of which would be subsidized by me so they could run at no proffit. Vehicles would be parked at the entrance to the park for both employees and visitors, with stables nearby to house the employee's horses (again subsidized) and the carriages that bring the visitors to the town proper. I'd also build a castle on one of my family's plots of land in Spain and have my ancestry researched so I know which Coat of Arms was actually ours. |
If I waited till I knew what I was doing, I'd never get anything done.

I'd Buy a small Casino in vegas, the taj or the luxor (hehe) and then turn every gambling table into a DND table.
As long as I get to wear the AO nametag and sit in the office (every employee would have to wear a god or demigod nametag.

Someone wise once said that while money can't buy you love, at least it can secure you a romantic corner booth, privacy and a divine bottle of wine to share with someone while you work at discovering it.
And that it's better to be lonely in a Rolls Royce than the bus.
What does 'super rich' even mean? If I take it to mean 'rich enough so that the yearly income, without touching the capital, is enough to do whatever stupid thing I can think of', then I have a lot of things I'd like to do.
Stop working is an obvious one (if a bit redundant for a man who's already famous as the laziest worker on the job market ). I'd finish my law degree, though, since I can't imagine being without a decent education.
I'd buy a house with a basement to install a gaming room in. Computer system that could project maps and pictures at will, both in the middle of the table and on the walls. I guess I'd need someone to handle programming and art direction as well.
I'd also hire a speech coach and an acting coach to make my GMing better. Learn how to mimic speech patterns for any conveivable NPC. I'd also learn Italian and Russian, since I haven't yet had the chance to learn them. Maybe add Afrikaans and Swahili. Also that hellacool Creole dialect that was used in Sierra Leone in Blood Diamond. Improve my Spanish, German and Latin. Bugger Danish, though, that's one language I'd opted out of if I had a choice when I was a kid.
Hire a valet. I'm not likely to keep a house large enough to need a larger domestic staff and I like the idea of a Jeeves-like character. A gentleman's personal gentleman.
I'd hire Sean Punch ('Dr Kromm') to write GURPS game supplements to my taste. Any supporting writers I needed would also be hired. The process would work like this; I'd suggest a book I wanted and then I'd negotiate with them how much money I'd need to contribute to make it a commercially viable product. Since my gaming tastes aren't in tune with most people, that would be a lot. There isn't much call for supplements like GURPS Economics, GURPS Political Intrigue and GURPS Social Encounters.
I'd also buy the rights to the Realms and ask Ed to work exclusively on projects that interested me. Unsurprisingly, those would all be pre-Spellplague and most of them would feature a minimum of random fight-scenes and a lot of character development and intrigue. I'd also pay good money to see a 256-page book on trade in the Realms. Politics and affairs of state would be a close second (actually, they're the same thing in different costumes).
Otherwise, my lifestyle wouldn't change much. I don't have any interest in being at the 'in parties' or gracing the social pages of the media. I wouldn't date Paris Hilton even if she begged me and promised to dress up like Galadriel. I don't want a small Carribean island or a yacht the size of one. I certainly don't want to compete with other people about the size of my hoard. I see that as just an extention of another competition that some people like to engage in during communal showers in high school. |
