Hopefully this is the right forum for this fun topic. Anyway, I was just wondering if the honoured worthies of Candlekeep had noticed the pose struck by the Myconid venom spore on page 124 of Expedition to Undermountain. To me it really looks like this particular Realms-dweller is playing air guitar. The question is of course, what is it playing air guitar too?

My votes are either:
Savatage - Hall of the Mountain King
Led Zeppelin - Misty Mountain Hop
or
Judas Priest's cover or Fleetwood Mac's original version of - The Green Manalishi (With the Two-Prong Crown).

Anyway, hopefully this is an appropriate post. If not, can a very over-worked but under-appreciated moderator move this scroll to a more appropriate shelf?

Ken: You from the States?
Jimmy: Yeah. But don't hold it against me.
Ken: I'll try not to... Just try not to say anything too loud or crass.

Without having seen the picture; how about Grower of Mushrooms by Leaf hound?
Rocky Mountain Way by Joe Walsh would be another alternative based on the alternatives you already have suggested. An obvious choice would be Duane Allman of the Allman brothers on Mountain Jam. But as I don't know the picture I will stop before I make this a top thousand guitars solo post.

PS, The Judas Priest version of Manalishi could never come up against the version on Fleetwood Mack's Live from the Boston Tea Party, so the Myconid would most likely be a dedicated Peter Green fan.

Maybe it's Weird Al's "Living in the Fridge". It'd be appropriate for a fungus to play...

One of my characters had a best friend who was a myconid. People asked him why he hung out with a giant walking mushroom, and he said, "Why not? He's a really fungi!" *rimshot*

Congratulations Wooly, that joke is so bad that not even I had thought of it.

Looking at the picture I get a clear Foghat feel. In almost any song they played, but I have a feeling that I am seeing a version of Got my Mojo working being played here.

It also looks a bit to macho posturing for Skydog, but this is a giant mushroom air-guitaring so the Allman brothers suggestion is still high on my list. Come to think of it, the Allmans used a giant mushroom on a couple of posters, coincidence? I don't think so.

Well, I've seen that picture at least ten times by now, but seeing it light of Kiaransalyn's post just made me laugh out loud. My vote goes to Ted Nugent's "Paralyzed"

I wonder if we would find that particular creature at this weekends Wacken Open Air 2007 Festival in Germany.

I'd guess for White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane.

There is a rumour going around that I have found god. I think is unlikely because I have enough difficulty finding my keys, and there is empirical evidence that they exist.

My strictly classical stylings leave me considerably deficient when I look over some of the musical acts mentioned in this particular scroll.

Eat Starch Mom would be another possibility. I wonder what a fungoid would have against its mother, but if any one knows it would be Airplane.

Another possibility would obviously be All around my Hat by Steeleye Span; jepp, the more I think of it, the more certain I am of that one.

Could I suggest Andrés Segovia?

I actually have some of Segovia's earlier works -- especially most of his Bach translations.

You're all just wrong! He's obviously shredding the 80's hair metal solo to Poison's "Talk Dirty To Me".

One of my most memorable one-shot games was based around an entire party of fungal folk from Araumycos. They were set to battle a party of Nethlings from Neth, the Living Demiplane.

At least I wasn't the one doing the "Junkticon Dance" while I was singing.

I'm wondering if the Myconid is riffing along to a Dio song, after all they're a band with a dwarf for a singer and they make frequent mention of dragons.

Then again, it could be Stonehenge by Spinal Tap?

Were people watching the old Transformers movie?

My vote: "Foxy Lady", by Jimi Hendrix.

Clearly the myconid, in all its fungal passivity, would play the soothing runs of "Illusion and Dream" by Poets of the Fall.

Get with it.

Being sarcastic can be more telling than simply telling.
