I personally liked the movie. I have never read the books, and didn't know it was based off of some books until a friend of mine told me about them. But I'm not a hard credit and easily made happy. |

Meh, I did not really like it. The plot was so obvious and I thought that the boy was a complete and total buffoon. I mean, when the old mentor guy tells you not to run into a trap that is so easily seen through that it was almost as bad as the Jedi where in guessing the Emperor's true nature that it nearly made me hurl.
I just see it as a subpar fantasy movie really. That and I didn't really like the dragon, though I think that's just my personal tasts talking.
Though it makes a somewhat decent childs movie.

I'd like to remind my fellow scribes that this really isn't the appropriate place to discuss this. Unless you intend to relate this discussion in any way to general FR lore, I'll have to seal this scroll.
'Tis just a reminder.

My kid loved the movie but he's 5 so.... I thought it was just another movie, watchable but nothing more. The red haired chick is suppose to be an elf but where are the pointy ears? I also found nothing useful for any campaign. Hows that Sage? |
When hinges creak in doorless chambers and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls, whenever candlelights flicker where the air is deathly still, that is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight. |

It's a stretch... since it can encourage more non-Realms discussion about the film.
Let's just try and keep it Realms-themed.

A good movie would need not only a good story but also good execution (and by the way, I don't think either the Eragon book or the movie had either of those).
That's why I'm ambivalent about any FR movies being made. |

OK how about this? I did enjoy those assassins basically made up of maggots, dirt, etc. I forget their names. Whats the closest realms equilavent for those? |

my memory of the vermin lords were that they were humaniods attracted to vermin. These seem to be magical contructs of vermin. They are almost maggot/dirt golems |

Looking a bit like the Worm that Walks from the ELH, perhaps?
Anyway! Following Eragon's rather poor reviews, do you think the whole fantasy rush that came after LOTR's has been dulled down a bit, which bodes ill for any future FR Film? Should a future FR Film take the animated route (like the Dragonlance film is doing) or Live Action?
There! Realmsified! (That even a word?) |

The book wasn't anything extra, but it is still quite an astonishing accomplishment for someone so young(he began writing it when he was 15), but the film...a friend of mine counted how many things from the book they had changed or taken away in the film. She found 87! |
