Indeed. Thank you all for the alert.
As it happens, I've already contacted Alaundo regarding this, thanks to PMs from other concerned scrubes. Alaundo should be able to handle the problem upon his return from holidays.

Scrubes. :) Funny. |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Aye.
I just had to delete one unmoderated post -- containing half the message I quoted above -- however the username read 111111. There's no one like this in the forum profiles though...

Alaundo might want to think about setting up an email system similar to the one over at Maxminis. You can send an email but it doesnt give out the actual address the email is sent through the websites form |

Well they appear to be using PM option as well.
Perhaps not a bot, just somebody being paid a dollar a day to reach out and contact people.
To prevent this type of event is harder, activity needs to be restricted or detected, perhaps IP blocking or filtering could be used. |

I don't have a junk folder in my main email account, since it's a ISP email through a email client. :) |

I use Hotmail, so I do have one. I've got an ISP email, but it doesn't get much use. I've switched ISPs enough times to prefer Hotmail. |

Grin,
Well, not much to choose from up here. There's either cable modem through TW or dsl through the local phone company and we have crappy phone lines, so. :) |

Hello-
I would further postulate that possibly those people who are listed on the first page or two, sorted by post count, may be the people receiving these, as I have not received any as of yet.
Not sure if this observation helps with anything though! :)

I am collecting the D&D Minis. I would be more than willing to trade with people. You can send me a PM here with your email listed - and I can send you my minis list. Thanks!
Successfully traded with Xysma! |

I am in doubt of that as I have recieved the mails well (even though the last two went straight into my junk mail. Hurray to hotmail! ) and I should by # of postings be behind you in the list, dhomal.
Thanks be said to Alaundo and Sage for their quick actions.

419 spammers usually target gmail aol and pay sites. Hotmail accounts and other free webmail services are usually not targeted. A spammer will usually find a forum site like candlekeep and target people who are frequent posters. AFter a couple if incidents they usually give up. .: I think this is over. especially with Alaundo to help out. |
