Powers & Pantheons says he played no part in the ToT; it's likely that since he only deals with dead folks, he escaped being chucked down with the rest of the deities. Or, if he was chucked down, he prolly found a nice quiet mausoleum to hang out in for the duration.

Jergal has next-to-nothing to do with the mortal world. I can't see him seeing a reason for having a Chosen.

As I recall, Tom Costa used the words "Jergal is mysteriously said to have played no part in the Time of Troubles." Which could suggest, perhaps, that it was expected Jergal would have something to do with the ToT.

That's true.

I suppose if Jergal really required a mortal servant for a time, he could just empower a certain worshipper for a limited period of time . . . kind of like a "temporary Chosen" or (winks at the Sage - - a Divine Champion).

After the deed is done, the Champion is immediately returned to his/her regular status and Jergal once again resumes his position of disinterest with the Realms.

Jergal doesn't care one way or another, if I understand his entry in F&A correctly he sees with Kelemvor finally the right successor.

I'v always felt there is soemthing planned for Jergal...but I'm not sure if I buy the "Age of Worms" explaination for Jergal (though I do admire Eric L. Boyd's Realms conversion of the adventuring path )

This Jergal (jer-gull) is a inhumane, wizened, insubstantial mummy of some ancient, alien race and is became bored with his position of power ( as a greater good ). I realy think this is strang. I once read in one book (can't remember which one) that hee destroyed a greater demon withh his dark "robe" ore somthing...... We have a figure - we dont know his race - and we dont know what he is doing - he has no greater goal we know of... what the XXXX this is realy spoky.
