No one should be worried about brining up subjects that they want to discussed or that they have questions about. So long as everyone remembers to be respectful of their fellow scribes and to the authors that they discuss, everything should be just fine.
Dragonlance has always been a better world when it comes to presenting dwarven characters, but there are a few dwarves in supporting roles. Spellfire and Crown of Fire by Greenwood and Thornhold by Cunningham all have a dwarf in asupporting role, as do Doug Niles' Moonshae books.
