I recently got a chance to look at the Dungeon adventure Secrets of Arch Wood, and one detail that jumped out at me was that some of the baddie's henchmen were moon elves with levels in the Barbarian class.

Now rather than just go off on a rant, I'd like to be a bit constructive and see if we can come up with where in the Realms these barbaric pointy-ears would be from?

There is a rumour going around that I have found god. I think is unlikely because I have enough difficulty finding my keys, and there is empirical evidence that they exist.

I would also say that if dwarves that become battleragers might come from standard clan holds, but are raised outside of the clanhold in the more difficult wilderness so that they are "tougher," I don't see a problem with moon elves raised in association with the given moon elven family being raised so as to leave them often in difficult wilderness and in a great deal of conflict to allow them to "learn" to be barbarians.

While I'm probably going to use either Option #2 or Option #6 from Dargoth's conversion notes, if you wanted to keep the module as is and just needed justification for the existance of Moon Elf Barbarians in the Archwood, I think that could be easily done.

The Archwood has been cut off from the main part of Cormanthor for many decades. It is certainly possible that the Moon elves who remain in the Archwood have become secretive, and even somewhat paranoid of anyone outside their own clan - which also fits in with who House Keleidsa is described in the module.

Under these conditions, it's not too far fetche to assumed that the typicaly civilized moon eleves have "de-volved" into a more barbaric and anger-driven clan. Hence the barbarian class.

Or, you could also say that becuse the clan is lead by a half-dragon, you could rationaize that the barabrians have been learning a new style of fighting that's related to the dragon rage. Perhaps they've unlocked some of the secrets that caused the most recent dragon rage. It's not that far-feteched, especially since we know almost nothing about the "dark magic" that their clan leader used to become a half-dragon.

"Over the Mountains
Of the Moon
Down the Valley of the Shadow,
Ride, boldly ride,"
The shade replied,
"If you seek for Eldorado!"
