Just to add another, there's another page in Shining South, which is page 132, that also references the comic. :) |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

not sure if this is related to the comics you guys are talking about but, I just flipped through the comic version of Exile by RAS and was so terribly disappointed! It didnt even pick up on the fact that the women are supposed to be more muscly than the men and that not everyone had perky breasts etc. I was sad to see blood coming out the myconid.. the interior design was boring and barren the colors were to playful and bright which is a shame because the art is the key aprt of any graphic novel especially one that covers the plot of a wellwritten novel. |

My FR comics experience is limited almost exclusively to the titles published by DC and TSR, in the late 80's and early 90's. |

me too...I hope the "new" comics generate more D&D players but I really have no interest in a Realms comic that rehashes an old novel story...
now if a new Realms storyline came out, like the Knights of Myth drannor of the Company of Crazed Ventures, then that would get my interest |

Me too. But I think its more likely we'll get rehashes like Swords and Songs and the like. |

Or the rest of the Drizzt series... I think the original novels were better, they showed more of Drizzt's thoughts and emotions. No matter what anyone thinks of the novels, I think the comics are lacking something that could be found in the novels. This is why I would like to see an original Realms comic with characters and stories designed for the comics medium. |

I actually thought they did a pretty good job on the Drizzt series. The art in Dragonlance is awful so I haven't bothered with it. But Tim Seeley is excellent. |

I have all three of the Drizzt TPB's thus far and am looking forward to getting all the Icewind Dale ones as well. In fact with the quality of them (some small issues with the art notwithstanding [bleeding Myconids!]), I would like to see Devil's Due publish a TPB for each of the Legend of Drizzt books. Not a great fan of RAS's writing style, so the comics are far better imho. |

The original DC comics are excellent, I enjoyed both immensely, though the storytelling in FR felt a bit titghter, and the art somewhat better, compared to AD&D.
Which minor characters appear in _Blackstaff_? |

Kyriani, and the son of Osco Salabuck (the halfling that died in issue 5, IIRC). Osco's family wasn't even mentioned in the comic, but it's close enough for me.
Steven Schend and I are both Kyriani fans, but he decided to trump me by putting her in his novel, just so that he could claim to be her biggest fan. |

I got a buzz out that myself. I think that, of all the characters from the comics, Kyri was my favorite too.

I'm big on Kyriani myself , but just when did she acquire the limp I remember being mentioned in the novel? |
