Well met everyone, just dropping in here to say Hi. I have been lurking here the last week or so. I have been a fan of the Realms for about 15 or so years now. It’s been one of those oh hey this has something to do with the Realms I should get it. Now here’s the weird part. I have never actually played or ran a game in the Realms. { Sound of people fainting and hitting the floor.} I was just recently forced to play in a D&D game again after a decade or so and well I just don’t like the rules that D&D has. To me they are too restricting so I have decided to take on a decent size project as my group is down to only one game session a week. Where it used to be 2 or so (mainly the weekends) I’m going to run a Realms campaign but as I only run GURPS games I will have to do some converting here and there and I feel this will be an awesome place to come and hang out and find the info that I need and idea’s to use against the players. Look forward to hanging out here and seeing all of your opinions.

P.S. Gotta love mistakes. I just found one. I was reading the FRCS and for one of the Devout PRC classes it says a requirement is Enlarge Spell but once you get that class one of the rewards at 1st level is Enlarge Spell. It totally made me get out my Players guide and look there to make sure I wasn’t going crazier than I already am.

Turox Antas Dragonslayer - "People will believe anything they want to believe, or fear to believe." Wizard's First Rule: Chapter 36, Page #397, US Hard Cover (revealed by Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander). Explanation by Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander: "People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People’s heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool."

Well met turox,
Cannot say I have ever played GURPS system. I have started eyeing the Burning Wheel system for Realms play. I wanted to try a system not hung up on combat heavy rules. Make combat a more deadly choice and promote dialog interaction more. I plan on hunting it down at Gen Con to flip thru the books before a final decision to buy it. I would be very interested in how you decide to use the GURPS rules around Realms lore.

Welcome to Candlekeep!
Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!
As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay! |
