This message was posted by GothicDan in the Ed Greenwood forum: I was considering making a Sun Elf character for roleplay (and possibly later as the main character in a writing piece), and in looking over possible Gold Elf Houses, Alastrarra caught my eye. I know that this House played a major part in Elminster's past (a la the novel).. But I was wondering, is there any information known to you about the House as it stands today, in modern Faerun?
Are they powerful? Prevalent? Weak? Declining? Primarily resident in Evermeet only, or also with branches in Silverymoon and/or Evereska? Connections to the Eldreth Veluuthra?
Any knowledge at all would be very much appreciated. :)

I'm curious as to what the other members of this forum know on the Alastrarran elves, as my character is a member of that house as well.

I DID post that. :D
So far I haven't gotten any reply yet - I know it may be weeks, months, or possibly even years.
But I DO know the House played a fairly prevalent role in the novel Elminster in Myth Drannor. That wasn't at the last two Border's I went to. :( |

I'm a strictly RL-buyer. No credit cards, no bank account, etc.
And at this point, I'm fully out of cash, anyway.
Blackstaff was my last purchase. ;) |

Naeryndam, I SUSPECT (because of some hints Ed dropped last week) that he'll have a reply to you six (or so) replies from now, and a reply to GothicDan's House Alastrarra about twelve (or so) replies from now. I'm glad you've both been patient; every time I pass a query on to Ed, I'm conscious of the fact he's one of the World's Busiest Men (without, being as he writes in the gaming field, being one of the World's Richest Men . . . I worry that some day he'll get fed up with being poor and turn to something else, and the wonderful flow of Realmslore will stop [!]). love, THO |

Naeryndam, isn't your name the House Alastarra's House mage? Just curious. I'm sure you would know. I myself just made a gold elf mage named Naeryn Durothil. I thought the Durothil house might be best because it seems to exist on Evermeet still. Also, Cormanthor, Fall of Myth Drannor, Evermeet the novel, Evermeet the sourcebook might all help better inform you. Most of these are easy to find. Good luck in your search. |

I've referenced all of the above sources except for Evermeet the supplement, which I have packed away somewhere. :)
And Durothil is my favorite House! |

Lady THO,
Thank you for the update, I truly appreciate the fact the Mr. Greenwood finds time to reply to the questions posted on this forum. By creating this topic I was not implying that I was growing impatient with Mr. Greenwood or yourself; I merely wished to know the opinions of other members of this forum.
Wandering_mage, Yes, Naeryndam is the name of House Alastrarra's house mage. I really enjoyed his brief appearance in EIMD and decided that since my character is a mage of that esteemed house, what better name than the name of that house's most famous mage.
