Does anyone know of an FR sourcebook which contains a picture of the Royal Magician of Cormyr, Vangerdahast?

A perfect learned scribe, and also really friendly!
It's nice to know someone like that, even though it's through internet.. euh.. I mean in this large library where it's almost impossible to really speak to someone, because it's so big.

Love magic for itself. Do not treat it just as a weapon to reshape the world to your will. True wisdom is knowing when not to use magic. Strive to use magic less as your powers develop, for often the threat or promise of its use outstrips is actual performance. Magic is an Art, the Gift of the Lady, and those who wield it are privileged it the extreme. Conduct yourself humbly, not proudly, while being mindful of this. Use the Art deftly and efficiently, not carelessly and recklessly. Seek always to learn and create new magic.

That would be really nice. I'll make sure to go to the best merchants for the best wines and ales to be brought to my room. I'm sure that's managable in a year

Since Rad mentioned Vangerdahast can anyone tell me what has happened to him now that Caladnei has taken over as the Royal Magician of Cormyr? The FRCS mentions that he has retired but I was wondering if he might still be behind the scenes.

I'd like but it's far too expensive. I'll come in 2 years. during 6 months. And comparing the Underdark and USA nowadays...

If i recall right... the beloved "Vangy" had some not too 'small' parts to play during the war between the Shadows... and everyone else... He was almost always there at the 'right' time to help bail out the newbie Cormyr Royal mage... tho that's all i recall... and i may be partly mistaken... hehe... i've read too many books since the fabled "Return of the Archwizards" series

I am like a superhero, with no powers or motivation.
I have gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, please keep me here.

There is a very old picture of Vangey in the Ol' Grey Box (original FR campaign setting - DM's Sourcebook).

As for his current role in Cormyr, let's just say that not being the titular Royal Mage doesn't mean that you don't still wield considerable power. Read Ed's short story in the Realms of Shadow anthology for an insight into how Vangey operates now.
