I know that I am probably in the minority here, but I prefer "fade to black" sex scenes to explicit ones. And I hate it when authors have characters discuss important plot point during an explicit sex scene because that means I cannot just skim over it. |

Sometimes fade to black scenes are the best option anyway. |

I have to agree with the "fade to black". I am a bit prudish and I admit that I would skip the sex scene even if it had an important plot point, although I haven't run into too many authors who do that. |
Anyone who likes to read something that's really dark and gritty and completely awesome ought to read The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks. You can check out a little taste at www.BrentWeeks.com I should probably warn you, though, that it is definitely not PG-13 :-D

Not necessarily - it could just mean that one of them figured out a way to get what she wants |

This thread inspired our characters to have a conversation IN-GAME about NPCs they'd like to have sex with. I confess, I blame you all for it.
Fuji: N Male Human [Chosen of Hoar] Swordsage 7/Berserker 2 Galan: NG Male Half-Orc Ranger of Miekkli 7/Berserker 2 Lisa: CN Thief 4/Shadowcaster 5 Marcus: LG Paladin of Sune 5/Crusader 4
***
Fuji: I can't believe you're discussing this.
Marcus: I'm a Paladin of Sharess, I think I'm obligated to discuss this.
Fuji: I've never wondered about that.
Marcus: Pardon me, but you're immortal. You've probably been with most of the attractive women of the Realms.
Fuji: Thank you, I tend to keep away from the Silver haired ladies of the Realm. I always can't help but think Elminster was there first.
Marcus: Don't ruin my fantasies, please.
Galan: I've been with Storm and Sylune.
Marcus: What?!
Galan: Excuse me, I live in SHADOWDALE. It's like a right of passage amongst us.
Marcus: Isn't....Sylune...uhhh....a ghost?
Galan: I didn't notice.
Lisa: I'd like to be with Khelben.
Fuji: Interesting choice.
Lisa: Come on; piercing eyes, incredibly powerful, long hair, not old and icky. Larael can share.
Fuji: That also describes Fzoul.
Lisa: If he wouldn't sacrifice me after! Mask can also change shape.
Marcus: I was with a Song Dragon once. Also a Drow.
Lisa: How did you survive being with a Drow.
Marcus: I was attempting to convert her.
Lisa: :snort:
Fuji: I like my women feisty, mortal, and human. Caladnei and Alusair are enough for me.
Lisa: And each other.
Fuji: Hush you. I make an exception for Kyrani of Waterdeep.
Lisa: Most men do. |

Okay, I have to bump this thread.
Let's see... if I had to pick any lady from the realms, I think Aliisza would be my choice of bed partners. She's just such a no nonsense woman who knows what she wants, when she wants it, and isn't terribly particular about who she gets it from. And the best part about her is that honestly, that's just who she is. It's what she is. She has the sex drive of a succubus and she likes it. I was actually glad at the end of the first Empryean Odyssey book when she didn't become a blubbering do-gooder. She's great like she is now. She needs to jump her angelic overseer's bones and show him the fun part of the dark side.
On another note, with all respect to Thomas M. Reid, Aliisza has got to be relatively easy to write. I can just see Tom's recipe for her now.
Aliisza:
Take one generic humanoid woman, add a healthy handful or multiple handfuls of breasts, a healthy two cups of sadism and mix. While you're mixing, be sure to begin boiling a large pot of libido for later addition. Once your breasts, sadism, and other lady parts have mixed together into roughly Rebecca DeMornay consistency, add two generous cups of intelligence. Stir for a minute or two until it begins to resemble Angelina Jolie, but without the humanitarianism. That part is crucial! If your mix begins to display any meaningful sign of concern for people other than herself, slowly add more sadism until it gets back into acceptable levels. You may want to add in some selfishness as well, but be conservative with it or you could end up with Paris Hilton, or God forbid, Anna Nicole Smith.
Once you're done mixing your base ingredients, place them in the boiling pot of libido for at least ten minutes. It's important you keep the libido boiling, as this will kill those pesky inhibitions that tend to ruin many fantasy women. No one likes a half done fantasy woman with "Not tonight I have a headache"'s or "Stop touching me there, I'm trying to sleep"'s still floating around inside of them, messing up the flavor. After about five minutes of boiling, add in a conservative amount of demonic taint.
WARNING: Demonic taint is potent stuff! It does not take much to go from insatiable, playful lust to giant aboleth on viagra. Unless you're Japanese, tentacles tend to ruin any fantasy woman mix. Remember, you're going for lusty half succubus with this recipe, not La Blue Girl.
After ten minutes is up, poke gently to see if mix is ready. If you hear a slight sigh or moan of pleasure, your Aliisza is probably ready. Use tongs or tong shaped marital aides (these are rare) to remove her from the boiling libido and then garnish her with demon wings for the cosplay fetish aspect. Serve while warm.
Cleanup: Let your boiling pot of libido cool down, then either take it to a certified libido disposal facility, or secretly pour it into the drinking supply of any all girls school in your area. Catholic girl schools are a great example of a place to do this. It tends to make the region much more happy... and populous. Be sure you wear gloves when transporting the pot. You don't want to spill this stuff on yourself. Unless you're David Duchovny, a spill will result in great agony, shame, legal proceedings, and possible death on your own part.
Bon appetite! |

I had mixed emotions on that one, meself.
On the one hand, it would have been interesting to see her "redeemed". The redemption of bad guys (and girls) is a common enough theme, but we don't often get to see the redeemed in action. And if we do, there's usually nothing much to it -- it's like the switch got flipped from evil to good, and the redeemed person is now a confident, assured good guy with no real connection to their own past.
On the other hand, Aliisza is a fun character just as she is. She's evil without being two-dimensional, and her personality still makes her a likable character.
So I was relieved that we'd not get to see a good Aliisza. And I was disappointed that we'd not get to see a good Aliisza. |

Love the recipe, Kamuraki. Aliisza is one of my favorites too.
On that note, you should check out Kyriani (shouldn't he, Wooly?).
And what is this about Twilight's razor? I . . .
Oh. Wait. I think I got it. (Snerk!)
