Hey!
First i want to say that this is an awesome website with tons and tons of usefull info about the realms. About my question, might be that it has been talked here before but, alas, i cant find anything about this.

So the issues is this. Im starting a new campaign and a player of mine wants to make a cleric of Finder (also thinks of multiclassin to a bard at a later point). So how should i adapt this to the game, as far as i know Finder has very few priests (Copperbloom, i think that was her name and Joel) and he also pretty much hand picks them in the guise of Jebediah and furthermore all of them have visited the Saurial inhabited secret vale.
The other thing is that i have the feeling that Finder is very active with his priests, meaning he answers a lot of prayers and even comes to help them if they are in a perilous situation.

So i guess my question is how should i play this as Finderish as possible and do you people think that a lvl 1 cleric should have seen been iniatied to the "clergy" of Finder Wyvernspur.

Phew..

I appreciate all the input and info i might get to shed light to this issue.

Have you read 2e's Powers & Pantheons? It has some good lore on all of the "lesser" deities of Faerun and then for some of the deities of the other continents.

As for a 1st level cleric of Finder, I don't see why he/she wouldn't be a member of the clergy....

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Before I start, it's cool that your asking this question with your avatar being Finder from the cover of Song of Saurials.

As for your game, if you are doing your campaign in the current year, then about 5 years have passed since the Lost Gods series if I remember correctly. You could always say that in that time the clergy is small but still larger than 2 clerics. I think that with the events of Finder's Bane, Finder may decide to be more cautious of being so close to every cleric. I say all this because I'm always hesitant to allow PCs direct contact with gods to early. It can have the habit of making them look for divine intervention too often. Now, being called in a dream or maybe recruited by Joel himself could be just as cool.

As for being in he clergy, I'd say a deinite yes, especialy because it is a smaller group.

That's just me. Do what you feel is best for your group and give you the best game. It sounds like it'll be fun no matter what yo decide.

Aye..

That was pretty much what i was concerned about, the contact with ones deity in a very early stage of the game, hence i asked because i thought Finder was so close to his clergy. But what you say is true, in Finder Bane i think he realised (in the end, stubborn as he is) just what you said about being overly protective and it could be spun nicely that he has slighlty taken distance and the idea of bumping into Joel and him being the one that directed the PC towards Finders path is a good one too.

thanks for the ideas and thoughts!
