Well, it's been over six months since I experienced some "holiday difficulties" just before Christmas, which prevented my family and I from journeying east on a holiday.
But I've now put the final touches to my new travel plans. As it stands... we'll be leaving some time toward the end of THIS coming weekend.
What this means is... my time here will likely drop off considerably over the next two days. I'm not really sure on when we'll be back... we're looking to have one-to-two weeks off in total visiting relatives, going to Sydney-based events (Dargoth, let me know whether you'll be visiting the Sydney CBD at any point next week and we'll try and meet up) and the like... so it really depends on how long that'll all take.
-- Before I go however, in about 24 hours or so... I need some suggestions for FR reading material on the plane. The Lady K usually sleeps while travelling by aircraft, and I imagine little Narnra will also sleep as well. So, that leaves me with some quality reading time.
Choices for FR novels include:- Bladesinger, Whisper of Waves and The Thousand Orcs.
Suggestions?

I've only read Whisper of Waves, and I wouldn't recommend it, but then again - I seem to a bit cranky in terms of the FR-novels lately.
If you were to delay the trip for three days I might come back with an opinion on Bladesinger, though, but...I guess that'd be silly of you |
There is a rumour going around that I have found god. I think is unlikely because I have enough difficulty finding my keys, and there is empirical evidence that they exist.

Well, to start with, enjoy the holidays. I assume there will be quite some celebration in Sydney with the "Ausi's" in the final round of the soccer world cup and all.
However, regarding your question, I am reading 1ooo Orcs right now and I like it from first page. Very intriguing, to say the least.
So, again, enjoy the trip, the good read (no matter which book) and a save return.

| Have a good trip Sage. I would recommend The Thousand Orcs...simply because I like Obould and the way he is reshaping the politcal geography of the North. |

Thousand orc's is a good read and would be my vote. good luck trying to read with a little one, mine always seem to stay awake on a plane....just until it is about time to land  |

The only book I haven't read is Bladesinger (are you willing to take new suggestions?). I did think Whisper of Waves was very well written and interesting, even though I didn't like the protagonist.
And have a fun trip. |

Well - enjoy your time! Hopefully - there will be plenty to read when you get back too! :))
And Dargoth - I have to say I've been IN the Galaxy bookstore in Sydney while I was there for work in '01. I rather liked their bag-check system. Alfred Bester for me IIRC. :)

So wait, is this the same Sage as the one at WotC?
I thought he was Andy Collins - you know, the Sage from "SAGE ADVICE" in DRAGON Magazine? He always seems to be answering questions over there as well.
I'm confused.

No, I'm not Andy Collins.
My username... "The Sage" derives from my longest running FR NPC -- Rastromo Meradoc, otherwise known as the Sage of Perth.
And while I do answer a lot of questions, you'll notice they are almost always relating to the Realmslore.
I apologise if there was any confusion.
