Hello all,
I've tried the new version of Campaign Cartographer (CC3) over the week end to remake my maps and since many scribes of the keep are fans of cartography, i thought to post an exemple what the new version can do compared to the old CC2.
I plan on mapping some Realms region using this style so any comments on the look of things would be appreciated for i am in the process of finding a new look for my maps.
This one is of Valedale, my add on region of the dale. I know it probably doesnt interest anyone to hear about things that are not canon related but i since i value the input of the sages here so highly, and understanding that i will cover Realms region in my maps, i thought some of you might be interested to know and see.
So here is Valedale: http://patoumonde.com/maps/JPG/HIRES/ATLASMAP-Valedale1200x1800.jpg
It is a work in progress right now. I'm still trying to figure out the correct look of things. That's why i would appreciate constructive criticism.
Thanks
Pat

Excellent, Patrakis! I can see I might have to use CC3 myself! |

Nice work.
I no this may be a silly question, but I wondered if you are going to use elevations and water depth (sorry if I use the wrong terms) as the lack of these on most of the official FR maps have always frustrated me. |

Indeed Jorkens,
Each color transition on the map represents an elevation mark. There will be a legend in the final version specifying the the different height by color. That goes for water level also.
Thanks

Hi,
You can open just about any CC2 maps with CC3 but the map will look the same as in CC2. You can manipulate it once opened in CC3 with the new symbols and the new features of the program. I'm sure some work would be involved to get it to look like the 3.0 look of the realms but it's possible.
CC3 is very powerful now that it uses PNG files and incorporate photoshop effects like blur, transparency, drop shadows and such.

I like the map. I just came from the Profantasy website, and see no mention of CC3. Wher does one aquire this? |

Hello Thrasymachus,
CC3 was first offered to the CC2 mailing list members to iron out some of the bugs that are sure to pop up in a new program. If you have a registered version of CC2, you will be presented with an offer to upgrade to CC3 at a reduced price. You have to go on their website and login in the registering section where all you programs are registered.
If you don't have CC2, or if it's not registered. The public version will be available in about 2 or 3 weeks as a download or on CD.
