Okay, my obsession with this region of Faerun is probably getting a 'little' out of hand by this point....

For those of you with more complete libraries: is there a canon breed of yugoloth that would be broadly equivalent to the succubus (tanar'ri) and erinyes (baatezu)? I'm looking for some-one/-thing that it would be reasonable to find serving under the Trio Nefarious during the Fall of Myth Drannor and linger on there after the Army's dissolution, plotting this or that unpleasantness, including a breeding programme similar to Hellgate Keep's notorious orc -> tanarukk system.

(I'm halfway through writing up the breed's stats and 'home region' now, and will post it for tweaking in Running the Realms when it's ready. Unfortunately, much of the fluff end of things kind of hinges on this question - if I can't find an appropriate "chick 'loth", I'll have to sub in one of the other fiends and pull some translocation mumbo-jumbo, which would kind'a feel like lazy writing.... )

D&D collection: Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, Monster Manual I, Complete Arcane, Arms & Equipment Guide.

FR sourcebook collection: Dragons of Faerūn, Faiths & Pantheons, FRCS, Lords of Darkness, Monsters of Faerūn, Player's Guide to Faerūn, Power of Faerūn, Races of Faerūn, Silver Marches.

I just got back into this, okay? Give me time (or better yet money) - I'll catch up soon enough.

Not in terms of similar function... but as specialised fiendish agents with specific roles for their kind, yes. Hydroloths (PSMCI) would be among my initial choices... with perhaps the piscoloths following close behind as a second possible choice.

[sigh] So much for that plan.

[thinks for a second]

Wait - erinyes serve much the same role amongst the baatezu as the succubi do amongst the tanar'ri, correct? And mages can gate in pretty much any outsider they like?
I might be able to work with that. It'll shift the origin story a little - a more even mix of the tanarukk/orog styles of origin - but I think it'll work. Now, to get the thing finished and posted here....

[sigh] Oh, to have a complete library of all the D&D books I seem to need....

Essentially, that is so. Though I've always thought the erinyes would be considerably more subtle and display a greater degree of cunning when compared to the similar role of the succubus.
