Why were hill and village named like that? Or what does word "hap" in Haptooth mean?

I looked in Volo's guide to Dalelands abd in Cormanthor and found no clues, other then that Venom used to dwell there and hill had a different name at that time.
Also Volo writes that it looks similar to the tooth.

The Curse of the Azure Bonds module should have some info on that place as well as the novel of the same name.

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

As for the name "Hap"... perhaps it simply demonstrates the villages share a connection with the huge gray-white stone tooth-like mountain nearby. Haptooth Hill is an extinct volcano which means it was there and named long before the tiny collection of buildings that is Hap grew up near it.

The Hap Hills itself are perhaps named from the Dragon Reach ballad "Lost and Hapless" -- a "Faerūnwide expression for hopelessly wandering in the trackless wilds." This could be where the basic "Hap" names originated.
